Ok then what happen after that...................

Him and his "Agent" got together and said "Hey, *we* gon fake a injury so you can come home and talk about taking 5 millie from the USFL."

^^^^ Read between the lines, bruh. How a nigga gon' dominate a team as a true freshman and then all of a sudden he can't do shit the next year?

I ain't saying he didn't get a concussion or get rattled a bit, but you saw the play. And you saw who got ran over and pushed backward. (We ain't even gon' talk about the Texas linebacker that got knocked back like cardboard cut-out from his freshman highlights, lol.

Speakin' of 5-star recruits that failed. I'm sittin' here watching the 30 for 30 of Marcus Dupree on ESPN 2.

Most experts consider him to be the most heavily recruited high-school player in HISTORY. Yes, history.

"6'3", faster than Herchel Walker, stronger than Jim Brown..."

And you already know who got'em...

    560_MARCUS.jpg

...And yet look how that turned out.

    Like I said. No guarantees.

i was watchin it too. i missed it the 1st time it was on...but yeah obviously that was a lil before my time. probably the ultimate 'what could have been' story, as far as sports goes

Werd. If you would've told me 5 years ago that Oklahoma would have a QB and Defensive lineman both taken in the top 5 picks of the 2010 draft, I would've agreed and guessed that their names were....

Rhett Bomar (5-star QB recruit) and Demarcus Granger (5-star D-line recruit)

Hint: ^^^^ That ain't Rhett Bomar and Demarcus Granger. And good luck finding Rhett or Demarcus in the NFL right now.

bomar play for the giants i think..

Before my time too. I started watching football in like '85/'86. (The Bears/Patriots Super Bowl and the Oklahoma national championship against Penn State was like the two earliest games I remember seeing.)

Did you see the Ricky Williams one before that?

Mental capacity is the most underrated aspect of a athlete's success. Hands down.

Nah, actually, he was cut like 3 different times by NY and most recently he was picked up by the Vikings as their 3rd string in December. He'll be back on the streets next year 'cause they only signed him 'cause Favre got hurt.

Dude is a meathead bum. Glad he failed. If not, we would've had to wait to see what Sam Bradford was really about.

    Fuck'em.

yeah i caught that one too. i still dont understand ricky's situation...like if you compare him & dupree. the main difference is williams had already made it..but like he said money wasnt everything. and i understand that, but damn bruh? to throw it all away. atleast with dupree, and his own decision-making was as fault as well, but there were other outside influences tearing away at him.

It's just something wrong with Ricky. Doing interviews with your helmet on -- INDOORS???? The fuck? lol

With all the players in the NFL obviously being "good players", if I was a GM the most important thing to me would be the interviews at the combine. Not 40-time, not college stats, none of that. Those things would be considered, but not most important.

If you even at the combine then it's been solidified that you can play the game, the mental part will decide what you do against other great players.

Who was the one stumbling off the field and couldnt remember what number came after 1 in the locker room.He had a whole new gameplan after that concussion.

    ^^^^^^^ Exactly.

My whole point I was making to Malice.

Sam Bradford: 3-star recruit out of high school.

Rhett Bomar: 5-star recruit (like #12 overall in the country.) Came in with Adrian Peterson....

    t1_ou_si.jpg

...And how are they lookin now.

Sam Bradford: #1 pick overall, multi-millionaire - ROOKIE OF THE YEAR with the Rams.

    Rhett Bomar....

cosign all of that.. just look at vince young's suicidal ass. i dont think anyone thinks he doesnt have the talent to be good, but he's just a lost cause when it comes to his mental state. me personally, if i got benched for old ass kerry collins, i'd feel some kind of way too. but he just gave up on the game, and damn near his life. also who knows how the death of steve mcnair effected him...these stories like his, dupree & williams are all sad situations

So you gon' act like that Texas DB wasn't still on the ground with the Larry Holmes-face when Dupree got up? lol. Stop it, bruh.

Besides, like I said, Dupree ended up getting fat and blowing out his knee in the USFL while the Sooners were polishing their championship rings. So when the smoke cleared...

    Switzer/Oklahoma >>>> Marcus Dupree >>>>> Texas

Vince Young is just..... Man, I don't even know. But I never saw him as a top notch player. If he can be in the NFL then why not Charlie Ward or Tommy Frazier? (probably before your time, but google'em.)

idk much about frazier outside of nebraska, but i never understood how ward goes from winning the heisman, to playing for the knicks. i mean i know college success doesnt necessarly translate to pro success, but damn...decided to give up the sport
