Gotta agree with Spliff on this one. The double standards are downright embarrassing with the British media. For the past few weeks, its been about AVB getting the sack because Chelsea were gonna lose to Valencia and get knocked out of the CL. They were talking about City not going through even though they had the toughest Group. Nobody questioned United's standings in their respective Group because they were expected to qualify because they were in an easy Group (even though they were not secure up to MD5).

Last few weeks, they been squeezing in wins and drawing with Newcastle, but the media never focused on that. All of a sudden on Saturday, they get a big win and it's "United is back".

And Gary Neville is the worst commentator I've ever heard. AVB was being nice when he spoke about him.

Yh but until Yorke and Nev came along Utd had NO representation on Sky Sports...On Sky Sports there are plenty Arsenal and Liverpool goons...And Nev is a good pundit...Knows the league in and out...And its good to hear from someone who just retired...

About Utd though...I see no crisis..in 09 we won many, many games 1-0...As long as you're winning I see no issue...

I honestly think most mainstream media pundits are afraid to piss SAF off. You know he's not afraid to snub or insult anyone or walk out of an interview.

Agreed, there is no crisis when it comes to league position or performance otherwise. The only crisis is the lack of depth because of the number of injuries in the club. The Vidic one is a serious blow, especially with Rio's past problems. Johnny Evans is a liability (worse than David Luiz) and the article was spot on on the Da Silva twins. I spoke about them a few weeks back when they both got injured in the same game.

Yh its emotional...Our players are droppin' like flies...Chicharito, Berbs, Owen...Cleverley, Anderson, Fletcher...Fab, Raf, Vidic...One more defensive injury and it'll be 2009/10 all over again...playin' Carrick CB and Ji at full back...

It's in the UK. It comes on four times a week(Mon-Thurs), with former players, and they review previous matches from the weekend and sometimes preview upcoming matches in the FA cup, CC cup, and CL. On Thursdays they got a 20 in 20, where they review the last 20 seasons of the Premier League.

Ever watch the EPL review show? It has the same graphics. How the hell y'all don't know what I'm talking about?

    Yeah, I am somewhat odd..

I’m sure you must be familiar with these headlines by now…

“Wenger out, Frenchman loses the plot” - “Chelsea in crisis, AVB for the chopping block” - “Dressing room revolt at City, can Mancini handle player mutiny?”

Is it me or does it feel like every other week these three clubs are having their dirty linen aired in public while the respective managers are examined with the vigor and enthusiasm only reserved for the Spanish Inquisition.

If we go back to those headlines though, one name is glaringly absent from the persecuting press and there are no prizes for guessing who it is!

Sir Alex Ferguson has endured some rocking moments during his 25 years at the helm of Manchester United and survived them all, but I believe that this current spell could be his undoing. So I have to ask:
Why are the media in England giving SAF a free ride?

United have some serious problems, but judging by the fawning reaction of the fourth estate after their convincing win against Wolves - for a side with only two wins in their last 13 matches - you’d thought the last two months hadn’t happened and everything was peaches and cream at Old Trafford.

By the way, this two months spell has seen the team humbled on its own turf by the noisy neighbors as well as being held by Basel, Benfica and Newcastle. Then there was the humiliation at the hands of Crystal Palace in the Carling Cup before ultimately being bounced out of the competition that they have been finalists in three of the past four years, the UEFA Champions League.

Any way you look at it, this is a team that is crisis mode in terms of injuries, performances and the most important ingredient in football: belief.

    David-De-Gea-PI_20111212075305473_400_300.JPG
David De Gea still has a lot to prove at Manchester United. (Photo by Alex Livesey/Getty Images)

Yes, you can point to the fact that the Red Devils are in second place in the Barclays Premier League and just two points behind City at the top of the table, but they have not played anyone of note since being battered by City on October 23.

It’s as though that purple patch at the beginning of the season was nothing more than a mirage, a false dawn, an echo of the last campaign, yet no-one has seen a headline saying “Fergie must go, United ship is sinking.”

If you truly look at the team from top to bottom with a critical eye there are far more questions than answers and Ferguson has basically refused to address any of the concerns, so I will…

    • David de Gea is a serious work in progress and not close to the kind of goalkeeper that will win you titles.

    • The Da Silva twins should be embarrassed to collect pay checks. They’re injured so frequently. Even Darren Anderton, the original sick note, feels like his nickname is being stolen.

    • Jonny Evans is a liability at the back and his confidence looks shot to pieces after some half-hearted displays. I personally think he’s terrified of Ferguson.

    • Rio Ferdinand is a quarter of the player he used to be and seems to spend more time on Twitter and building his social media empire than concentrating on defending.

    • Nemanja Vidic is out for the entire season after injuring his knee in Basel.

    • Patrice Evra is showing the kind of leadership that had him tossed from the French squad during the South African World Cup. The Frenchman thought last week was the perfect opportunity to call out his teammates for their Champions League exit while stating that the Europa League was almost beneath a player of his quality.

    • Anderson, who had been more effective than at any other time in his United career, is out until February.

    Rooney_Nani_PI_20111212082705481_400_300.JPG
Wayne Rooney and Nani have failed to hit the heights this season. (Photo by Michael Regan/Getty Images)

    • Darren Fletcher is a good footballer but he’s not Roy Keane - in fact, he’s not even Paul Ince.

    • Ashley Young has completely gone off the boil as the initial excitement of playing for the champion has turned into a realization that he has to perform week in, week out, unlike what he had to do at Villa.

    • Nani hasn’t had a performance of note since the Arsenal thrashing back in August (no, scoring two against Wolves doesn’t count).

    • Wayne Rooney, after starting the season like a man on a mission, has simply stopped scoring against anyone other than tomato cans.

    • Javier Hernandez, who is rapidly becoming Ferguson’s lucky rabbit foot, is also out injured for four weeks.

Sir Alex Ferguson is the greatest coach/manager in the history of sports. No one has ever had the amount of success the Scotsman has enjoyed but everything comes to an end one day. Just because he’s endeared himself over the years doesn’t mean that he should get a free ride as his club searches for its new identity.

As Anderson Cooper likes to say, we have to ‘keep ‘em honest’.

the reason being SAF avoids the bashing wenger and avb gets is he CONSTANTLY winning trophies, and doesnt go years with out winning the league or cups, and hes being in the last 3 of 4 champions leagues finals... winning 1... avb is young and in experienced, so hes gonna be judged, as fergie was when he started out... every manager is gonna have slips ups, but fergie wont let united go long with out a trophy, unlike arsenal or chelsea...

as with the injuries, who can help that???

press have slated united for not making the ko stage, and rightly so... but we responded with a win... had we not the we would of had even more criticism...

fergie responds to a situation like hannibal or sun tzu... wengers just a stubborn cunt and splif already mugged off avbs tactics...

fergies records speak for themselves, thats why he cant be touched... and he has been consistent since 1992/1993, unlike anyother manager...

he the greatest manager ever, what can you say about him... you never say hes fallen off, because he always bounces back...

  • Punter wins £38k by betting on wrong game

A lucky punter ended up winning over £38,000 on a football accumulator bet despite picking the wrong match by mistake.

The unnamed punter from Northern Ireland placed £50 on an 11-match accumulator of matches from around Europe but thought he had lost when he saw one of his selections, Benfica, lost 1-0 to Maritimo in the Portuguese Cup.

However, he had actually selected Benfica to win a league game between the two sides the following week by mistake, and when Benfica went on to win that rematch 1-0, the punter had scored an unlikely windfall of £38,058.71.

"The customer placed the bet on the evening of 1st December, all for fixtures last weekend (3rd & 4th December)," explained Charlie McCann of Victor Chandler.

"We were surprised to see that ten of the predictions made over the weekend were correct, but there was one outstanding game for Sunday night (11th), Benfica against Maritimo in the Liga Sagres.

"We thought this was unusual and looked back to see who Benfica played on the previous weekend and it was Maritimo but in the Portugese Cup which they lost 2-1.

"We contacted the punter to let him know what we considered to be his lucky mistake and he confirmed that he thought the bet was placed for the Cup game last weekend, and not for Sunday's league game.

"His intended selection lost but by happy accident, he ended up winning £38,000 - better to be a lucky punter than a good one perhaps."
