I support freedom of speech, no matter how offensive, but I wouldn't cry if Limbaugh was silenced some day. He should have been fired and banished from radio a LOOONG time ago with some of these quotes. It's okay though, it just helps me realize just how little moral authority whites have = )

lol Wow, you're completely missing the point. I wasn't saying that Olbermann/Beck should think like Stewart/Colbert. What I was saying is that Stewart/Colbert are acts. They say some ridiculous things at times but it's known that everything they say and do is meant to be taken with humor in mind. Olbermann/Beck say things that are just as ridiculous, only they pass it off as real news when in fact they are just trying to get ratings.

It's not a matter of free speech. No one is saying that Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, Maddow, O'Riley, or any of those other clowns should be silenced or arrested for having a dissenting opinion. What is being suggested is that people who claim to be journalists and news persona should be held to some standard of responsibility and accountability. Since media like the radio and tv are already regulated by the FCC, some believe that the FCC should put more effort into fighting against certain things. Whether you agree or not, the logic isn't that crazy. If the FCC can stop people from saying "shit" or "fuck" over the radio, why can't they stop people from going on rants attacking people of other races and cultures.

All that aside, you're talking about Obama's comment, and Obama didn't even suggest that anyone be shut down. All Obama said was that political discourse in this country has gone to a bad place and is actually hurting the government. He didn't call anyone's name or suggest anyone be shut down. He was just saying that people should take more care as to not get sucked in to the gimics that abound these days.

From what I have been reading, there is a strong possibility Heyslick is a closet racist. However, I do agree with him on the article. Only because I hope to one day be able to use my speaking skills on the streets, I would have to say i am all for freedom of speech. With that said, I know Rush is a racist and I don't like most of what he says, but we live in a country that is SUPPOSE to support free speech. Putting "restrictions" on radio is the precursor to putting "restrictions" on all forms of speech. Obama backing this could be him trying to show that he does care about blacks in a way by speaking out about this due to Rush's apparent disdain for blacks. But i think it has more to due with where this country is REALLY headed.

This happened in the 70's and he has already stated that was one of the biggest mistakes in his life and he wishes he could take it back. The man apologized for it I don't believe he is a racist. Robert Byrd was a former Klan leader, Al Sharpton has made remarks about Jews they were forgiven so why can't Rush. I defend the truth because I live in a place called the literalville. Simply saying Rush Limbaugh is a racist does not make him one. All those quotes got debunked and her never got an apology from Jackson or Sharpton which I might add he was owed since they cost him the oppurtunity to own part of an NFL franchise. Rush says many racist things. I don't know if he really is a racist in his heart though, because I think he just says whatever creates controversy, and it's unclear how much he actually believes of what he says.
