Couples out to eat but both have their eyes glued to their phones

My girl and I went out to eat yesterday and the couple across from us, mid 20s they entire time they were waiting for their food were both looking at their phones texting or on facebook. Even when the food came they had their phones in the opposite hand than their utensil. I wasnt really paying attention but my girl noticed it and said she saw them only say like 2-3 sentences with each other

I went out once to eat and I seen like this older couple w/ their faces in they plates the entire time that I was there. No talking, no laughing, no smiling and I was like I pray that my relationship doesn't get like that. At least they were there before I was and I was hoping they was communicating before I took a seat....
