I don't care what nobody says. That Ward/Dawson scrap is a pick em bout. I know Ward is the favorite, but Chad has some glaring advantages and if he comes with the same heart (Except the one on display for most of the Pascal bout) it could be a loonnnggg night for SOG. I'm a fan of both though.

What ya'll think about that Abner Mares vs. Anselmo Moreno bout? (if it gets finalized) Two really good fighters, but Moreno's awkward style is gonna make Abner look bad.

aye bruh, ima let you finish but right now niggas gon hear me out on Bitch-Hop

I favor Chad to win... Moreno Mares good scrap I favor Moreno cuz he can box and has defense but Mares will punch him in the balls and dirty it up. Damn shame Nonito Donaire gets to not fight either along with Riggy. watch all 3 have to fight each other while Donaire gets easy fights

    Hopkins is/was a bottom feeder

but throw legacies out the window and Ward is clearly a better fighter with more to his game than Hopkins ever had

Hopkins aint a bum but he's never won a fight i didnt think he would

and what did Hopkins dominate for nearly 20 years? Not boxing

I have to cosign a lot of what u said... I watched Hops whole career... when he was younger he threw more and rough housed but he fought bums and refused to move up in weight. folk dont know he started his career at 175 but went down to 160. He admitted years ago he could have moved up but stayed at 160 cuz it was easier. He knew he wasnt beating Toney or Roy Jones at 168 or 175 so he fed on smaller stars who moved up ie Oscar Tito and a bunch of regular guys at 160. skill wise Hop is really good but when he got older he became a dirty head butt and hold guy who stunk up fights . He was a disgrace vs Winky another smaller guy Joe C falling all on the ring crying for fouls, vs Roy in the rematch and vs Dawson where he faked a injury.

Joe Calzahge was my ninja though. How many Super middleweights lack any kind of real power, but can just smack the shat out of you for 12 rounds and just outclass you with boxing skill. Remember the hype train Jeff Lacy had, nobody believed me when I said Joe was gonna embarrass his ass. Americans hated Joe, but Joey was a beast.

joe retired at the right time he seen them young gunz coming for his ass

remember this fight? tito had that nigga down some many times
  • Naw, the only person that was coming was Froch and he was nowhere near the fighter he is today. He was still crude as fuck and I think Joe would have just outboxed his ass "Ward" style.
  • VaderVader Posts: 6,885
dawson was calling him out before he retired and i think ward was around he was green but he was still around
  • Naw, Ward was not even a factor yet. He finished the Olympics in '04 and in '07/'08 was only on his 14th or 15th fight if I remember correctly. He was a considerable underdog before the Super six even started and beat Kessler in '09 where he finally earned some professional recognition. Joe was a year out the game by then. Andre was just an up and coming prospect when Joe had his reign.

Chad was busy with Glen Johnson and Antonio Tarver rematches when Joe was wrapping his career up. Chad was still trying to prove he was the king at LH, dying to get B-hop in the ring. That's when Joe waxed B-hop ass. Joe when out on his on time, nobody ran him up out of boxing.

Lol, the injury wasn't "faked" according to ESPN and as far as weight is concerned, fighters move up in weight all the time and weight doesn't determine who's going to win the fight. Hopkins beat Trinidad as an underdog via tko, ko'd De La Hoya, beat a young Glen Johnson, beat Tarver (please don't utilize the "Rocky" movie excuse), detroyed an undefeated Pavlik as an underdog, and a young and strong Pascal who beat Dawson.

injury was fake no mri or nothing just Hops word... He pulled the same bullshit vs Antwon Echols. back when he beat Glen Johnson he was young and no one knew who he was and dont front like u did... De La Hoya was a blown up welter.... Tarver did have weight issues but he couldnt complain because he fronted on Roy Jones when he told him he dehydrated coming down from heavy which would have made him look like a hypoctite Hop gets props for the Pavlik and Pascal fights... Hop is a opportunist. He waited til the end of his career when the greats were washed up to move up. He tried to duck Dawson and did for years.

ESPN said there was an injury so I'm not taking your word over that. As I stated already, weight doesn't determine shit. Tarver had Hopkins move up. Pavlik was washed up? No, he was in his prime and undefeated. Pascal was washed up? No, he just beat Dawson. Oh yeah, you conveniently disregarded the Trinidad fight in which Hopkins was an overwhelming underdog. The Winky fight was ugly, dirty, and could've went either way, but he pulled off the win. Either way, dude is going down as a legend.
  • aneed123aneed123 Posts: 9,974
im not arguing him going down as a legend, and I gave him props for Pavlik and Pascal in my last post. Tito was a smaller fighter who came up in weight.... Hop was a lightheavy fighting at 160 cuz it was easier. He butted Winky fouled him held him and ref aint take no points... shit was a disgrace. Hop wanted no part of Roy til he got shot. Hop wanted no part of Toney in the 90's and Hop wanted no part of Dawson til he was forced to fight him and then he pulled that bullshit. We get on other fighters for quitting with cuts and suspect injuries.... Hop is no different. He coulda continued but chose not to...

Why didn't Roy fight a prime anybody, anytime? Nigel Benn, Joe Calzaghe, Chris Eubanks, Steve Collins, Vassilly Jirov, Dariusz Michalczewski, James Toney? The list goes on and on....And I like Roy, but if we keeping it real...

same question u can ask Hopkins and Toney.... Roy beat a prime Toney can say the same for Hop. All those guys u named were Euro fighters.... the top US guys werent going over there to get robbed or end up like G man. Jirov was a cruiser Roy didnt fight there in his prime he went from light heavy to heavy for Ruiz. Roy was the top dog in boxing for a decade and he earned it. the other guys were supposed to come to him and his demands not the other way around. Roy's resume is filled with former champions who get discredited cuz he made it look so easy word to Virgil Hill
