Yeah. Just like with Robb Stark fucking ol girl and then marrying her seemed kinda rushed, I felt the same way about the halfhand scenes. I understand it had to be that way for tv, but those are situations I feel that the books probably do it much more justice

This is true,,,but its also a huge testament to the writers that we care to know the backstory of every single character in this huge cast

Actually, I'd say that's more of a testament to the WRITER, as in the author of the books. We care about the characters because the source material is so good.

I think it's a testament to the writers that we still manage to love the show and the characters despite the fact that we don't get the full picture that would come with actually reading the book.

Great show. I'm half way through the first book and I would definitely advise those who haven't already, to read the books for in depth detail on the story.

Need to catch up before season 3 starts.

    Watch The Borgias.

Season Finale's next week, so...if you've never watched the show...watch the first season and then catch up with this season.

Granted, it's not as good as Thrones...but it's better than that vampire shit and it'd be getting a lot more attention if Thrones wasn't around.

damn, i never would have even noticed this

"The last head on the left is George Bush. George Bush’s head appears in a couple of beheading scenes. It’s not a choice, it’s not a political statement. We just had to use whatever head we had lying around." - Dave Benioff & D.B. Weiss

Word....thats why I think he's lying when he said they just had it laying around. I think they did that on purpose which makes it funny as hell.

Theon not hard enough for this right here and definitely not smart enough for them out there.
It was crazy how he needed to cut him so many times to behead him but Ned just needed one swing to do something like that.

lol, see that's one of those moments where Martin is schooling you on Medieval History

MOST beheadings went like that. In fact, it was considered a good look to let you pick your own executioner, that way you could pick the biggest, strongest dude to hopefully get the job done RIGHT.

True as great as the show is, the books really do take a big SHIT on the TV show.

Just givin yall the heads up that sometime next week this thread will be unsticked......

That's why I don't want to read the books until afterwards. Allows me to appreciate the show as it's own separate entity then I can go back read the books and be transported on a whole 'nother level.

  • lol @ so many people being surprised that the books are better and more detailed than the show. That's pretty much the case with all good source material.

I'll even go as far as saying that I believe there is a bit of confusion here. Is it really that the books are better than the show, or are many of you just now figuring out that as far as storytelling goes books are a better medium than television? The problem with the comparisons being made here is that many people are claiming that the books are better than the show for reasons that don't really pertain to the quality of the show itself. By that I mean that books, in general, allow for more descriptiveness and exposition than tv. If you're saying that you like the books more than the show for that reason, then you're not really putting the show's quality as a tv show up against books' quality as literature. You're essentially evaluating the merits of books for telling a story vs a tv show.

exactly. no never hear a group of people who have all read a certain book tell each other "oh you've got to see the movie version, the book doesn't really do it justice"

No I'm pretty sure that I know books are better than Movies/TV. This show is the perfect example, at no point in the TV show did this show make me say "Fuck that I'm done with this shit!" and put it down for two weeks because something happened in the book that pissed me off so bad.
