C'mon now fellas...let's look at this from a logical and analyzable standpoint.

Jay always said his music was therapeutic...so in a sense he put us, Hip Hop fans in the role of psychiatrists and wanted us to listen in depths of how he felt..and we listened to his story that was more deeper than drug deals, smashing smuts that was in awe of money magnetism and jewels instead of himself, having regrets selling to his own people, dodging slugs from haters, throwing away bail money..to do the same shit all over again.

Jay did, at one point, in his career gave the culture of Black struggle, HIS struggle in his own words, 16+ years through the eyes of a drug dealer in Brooklyn, New York realizing he had a gift to where he could clean himself from that negativity.... and everybody listened no matter what color or background you came from, you listened and through that it showed him that he was much better than a low-life drug dealer from Marcy Projects and took our admiration of his wordplay, flow and unique point of view to doing other things.

Maybe he got tired of telling the same story to us Hip Hop fans aka psychiatrists and decided to go a different route.
