Since #1 picks in the NFL get ridiculed, it's only right we shine a light on the CFB equivalents.
2002 - Vince Young, texass - Well, he did win a ring. But he also was the QB in texass' worst lost to OU EVER. Even tho his NFL career has been laughable, this aint about the pros.
2003 - Ernie Sims, FSU - Safe to say he's lived up to the hype. Ended up being a 1st round pick.
2004- Adrian Peterson, OU - I don't really have to answer this one, do I?
2005- Derrick Williams, Pedo State - Who? lol. Had to google this one. Not a complete bust, but nothing special either. Basically a slash player. Jack of all trades, a master of none. 3rd round pick in the NFL.
2006- Percy Harvin, Florida - Pretty much same as AP. Mission accomplished.
2007 - Jimmy Claussen, ND - lol. So basically this bitter-beer-face lookin' cracka was overrated on every level he played on. Go figure. Fail.
2008 - Terrell Pryor, Ohio State - Another lol. I remember the hype around him was almost reaching Lebron-in-high-school levels. Turned out to be just another long-legged WR playing QB. Rode off into the supplemental draft sunset in a sports car bought and paid for by THE Ohio State university.
2009- Bryce Brown, Tenn/K-state - Super LOL. There were rumors that this dude was "so good" that he was considering playing in the CFL for millions fresh out of high school. Flamed out at tennessee, trannied to K-state and then left for the NFL -- Just to become a 7th round pick. Fail, fail, fail.
2010 - Ronald Powell, Florida - Too early to say bust, but it's leaning that way. Led the team in sacks last year (6) but he's been outshined by plenty players in his same position in the same recruiting year. Also blowed out his knee in the spring game this year (shouts out to Emmith Smiff.)
2011 - Jadeveon Clowney, SCAR - First off, Malice, take a cold shower, second - He did have an impressive frosh year. If he stays out of trouble and improves his technique, he's an automatic 1st round pick.
2012 - DGB, Mizzou - Too early. Could go either way. Put it down in the Army game and all the recruiting camps he went to, but so did most of the above.
2013 - Dikembe Ibakachichi, (whichever program gives err-body an' his grandma a scholly) -- I'm not personally impressed with his highlights on the field or off. But to be fair, it's too early.
The funny thing is, as I researched all these, many of the TOP 5 players in each of those years were a bunch of niggas that I haven't heard from since. Something to think about as we high-five each other over a bunch of 16 and 17 year olds.
