BREAKING NEWS: Chammy's PS3 suffers coma yesterday evening, in critical condition

OG 80GB PS3, 5 years and 3 months old. Thang had a stroke while revisiting Dark Souls last night. Never happened before and thought it must've just overheated (even though it wasn't that hot at all). Switched it back on and did the same thing in after about 2 mins. Now the bitch won't turn back on at all.

I'm gonna do surgery tomorrow night when my Stop & Shop ho gets me a heat gun from her job. Gonna open that baby up and do the "reflowing" technique to re-establish the connections to the motherboard as well as cleaning a lot of the dust bunnies out of it. I'm pretty sure that's been hurting it. What I'm most concerned about is getting the disc out and deactivating the account. All my important game saves besides a few hours of L.A. Noire and GTA IV are in online storage. Other than that... I think I'll be able to come to terms with pulling the plug.

Chea, I took the time out a few weeks ago to back-up all saved data I may use in the future, and my PS3 auto-uploads new saved files, so I'm good on that end.

What sucks is I called Sony just a few months ago to manually de-activate all other systems from my account..and they said that shit can only be done once. So hopefully I get it working to at least de-activate this joint.

Now I fear for my ps3. It's coming up on its 5 yr anniversary too and its been loud recently. I think ill pop in every game I own just to get an online backup myself. Godspeed to chams tho

You don't have to put the game in to upload it to online storage. Just go to each game save -> copy -> online storage.

And before yours gets got, I'd do what I'm doing (the reflowing process). If I would've done research before I probably would've done it sooner. That, and maybe installing a 19-blade fan to keep shit cooler. The OG PS3 fans seem to re-circulate and retain a bit of heat.
