Rappers need to Rap

Main Problems with the Rap today.
1.Image and buzz over rapping
If anything is killing hip hop its the idea that rappers shouldn't be rapping and just creating buzz with an image or gimmicks or gossip. This aint no fucking hollywood magazine, hip hop heads would rather hear a scandal than a hot 16 these days SMH

2. The Music focus
rappers use to be good because they were good, not because of an album packed with collabos with non hip hop artists, or singing or dancing or any of that shit.
If a rapper uses a hip hop instrumental to spit over, its a 'wack beat' but if its a dubstep or a euro industrial then its HOT, its like the fans are trying to make hip hop LESS hip hop.

3. Fan culture
Hip Hop fans download hip hop, they dont pay for it, mainly for the reasons given above, the only people who buy hip hop are die hard members of a particular fanbase or more likley the POP crowd, so its no wonder the labels are forcing rappers to make pop music.

4. The 'Hater' Defense
Rappers arent allowed to call each other wack anymore, they might say 'some rappers these days are wack' but they wont say any names, and even worse if they are asked about a rapper they dont like they will still co sign them saying 'they are doing their thing' or 'they respect their hustle' apart from DMX talking honestly about Drake, ross and jeezy
rappers have nothing to worry about in terms of critisczm in the scene. They can keep spitting wack and if anyone calls them out on it... HATER HATER HATER until the comments die down.

5. Bandwagon

Admittidley this isnt really new, but its still something that is abused a LOT. if someone does something hot in hip hop. then you will get 6 or 7 knock off clones trying to re create that same buzz. Its fucking upsetting.

1. Buzz was always a plus, but labels would take a unknown and make them known.There was usually some type of local following though.Image is way overhyped, but sales everything

2. Less youth are into that genre. They were raised on LiL Jon and shit then Soulja Boy

3. Black hip hop fans always bootlegged or had mixtapes it's when white fans stopped buying sales went down

4. Now calling somebody wack means A. being blackballed because of that artists backers and shut out or B. Having to shoot somebody or get shot at.

5.The way of the wack ass word. Ppl are mostly sheep and ent. is a casual thing for them anyway

You make good points, but i mean thats just the way it is. Maybe if when they did choose to rap they said something, it would be worth it, but most of em dont even do that.

Hip hop is were its at, because the ones who have made it are shiftless niggaz who are just satisfied enjoying their money & fame till it runs out

i feel what u are saying but point number 2...dancing is a part of hip hop...dont matter if its disco rap or the wop or some kid n play shit...we suppose to dance...there should always be a lane for dance in hip hop
