Alberto Del Rio reportedly threatened to quit WWE last week

F4WOnline.com reports that Del Rio had a dispute with upper-level management last week. One source says Del Rio was frustrated with his standing and contemplating a departure. A second source said the incident ‘wasn’t that big a deal’ and that both sides were wrangling over a contract matter. A third source believes the spat was a combination of both accounts.

A source expressed skepticism Monday night that Del Rio had legitimately suffered a concussion, noting that he was “too injured” to work the No Way Out pay-per-view event on Sunday but healthy enough to work Raw. The employee believes the concussion was a cover excuse for issues that materialized between Del Rio and officials, necessitating his removal from the title match against Sheamus.

-- Even though he was "fired" by Vince McMahon at No Way Out and "beat up" by John Cena on RAW, John Laurinaitis is still working WWE live events. The main event of this weekend's RAW shows (Bethlehem, PA on Friday, Wheeling, WV on Saturday and Huntington, WV on Sunday) features Laurinaitis teaming with The Big Show against John Cena in a handicap match. The storyline is that the WWE Board of Directors are "making him fulfill his contract obligations."

-- The RAW shows this weekend will not feature CM Punk as he will be on the SmackDown shows (Springfield, IL & Bloomington, IL) instead. He will face Daniel Bryan and Kane in a triple threat match. Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio is also set for the shows.

-- The Miz just finished his second week of shooting in The Marine: Homefront and will return to action next month.

-- Wade Barrett is on his way to New York to film more scenes in WWE Studios' Dead Man Down. He recently filmed scenes in Philadelphia.

WWE is currently planning to have John Cena face CM Punk for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam on August 19. The plan is to build the show around Punk/Cena and Brock Lesnar/Triple H.

WWE decided to go with Cena and Punk for the second year in a row because they do not want their biggest draw to be in the fourth most important match, meaning Lesnar/HHH, two world title matches and then the Cena match.

Since Summerslam is one of the biggest PPVs of the year in the major television market of Los Angeles, California, WWE wants Cena in a title match and on top of the card.

Chris Jericho's WWE suspension ends today. Here is his final countdown post on Twitter…

Jericho is expected to be working as a babyface when he returns to action. WWE showing footage of Jericho performing with Fozzy on RAW was a step in showing him in a more positive way prior to his return.

For what it's worth, Rey Mysterio's WWE suspension ends this Monday. No word on when he'll be returning.

The Punk/Bryan angle will be a waste. I don't get it, you have Punk feud with Jericho, Bryan and Kane I guess, but you're gonna throw in Cena and he wins like that?

A source does not expect Cena to be added to the RAW Money in the Bank Ladder Match either. As noted yesterday here on the website, the latest word on Cena’s SummerSlam plans is that he will be going after WWE Champion CM Punk in the co-main event. WWE will reportedly be focusing on Cena-Punk and Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H as the SummerSlam main events this year. Plans always change this far out but advertising for WWE’s Night of Champions pay-per-view in September suggest that Cena would not win the WWE Title at SummerSlam. WWE is teasing that Cena will challenge for the WWE Title at Night of Champions, which takes place from his hometown in Boston. Cena is expected to spend the latter part of 2012 in the WWE Title picture.

John Laurinaitis appears after Raw goes off the air…

After this week’s edition of WWE Raw Supershow went off the air, a dark match main event featuring John Cena facing Big Show and Tensai in a handicap match took place. Cena picked up the victory with the Attitude Adjustment.

John Laurinaitis came to the ring following the dark match and hit Cena with a chair. Cena recovered and hit Laurinaitis with the Attitude Adjustment to send the fans home happy.
