in his defense, at least with Denver, that was when the West was at its peak, especially at the top, and i could be wrong, but Denver probably wasn't getting better than a 6 or 7 seed

Thing is, He ISNT on Wade's level.

Lol @ eduardo Najera being on a list that has to do with Melo. Theres no list where those 2 would both be on it and its for a good thing.

his rookie year (03-04), they got the 8th seed against minnesota. That was KGs MVP year...they wasnt gonna win that matchup

sophomore year (04-05), 7th seed against the *sonofabitch*...eventual champion Spurs.

3rd yr (05-06), 3rd seed by virtue of winning the northwest and they faced the clippers who had a surprisingly good reg season and almost went to the WCFs(took PHX to 7 games)

4th yr (06-07), 6th seed. I believe thats when AI joined the squad. They faced...again...the eventual champion spurs

5th yr (07-08), 8th seed. AI's last yr with them. The faced the lakers who went to the finals.

6th yr (08-09), 2nd seed. The yr...smh...chauncey got there and they had there run to the WCFs and lost to the eventual champion lakers.

7th yr (09-10), 4th seed. His last season in denver. Faced the utah jazz. That same year is when george karl got his cancer and adrian dantley took over

8th yr (10-11) midseason trade sent him to NY. Faced the boston celtics.

9th yr(11-12) 2nd yr in NY. Facing the heat.

so if u do look at his track record...he either faced a finals champion, finals participant or conference finals particiapant. In the times he didnt face those type squads...he faced some pretty good teams(boston, utah, clippers). So yeah...the west was tough.

There's no defense for getting out of the first round 1 time in 9 years, nah.

I call bullshit on some of these:

    1) Series vs. the Clippers - They had the better season, even though the Clippers had the better record. That was more than winnable. Elton Brand, in his last All-Star season, chumped the shit out of Denver.

    2) 1st series vs. the Spurs with A.I. - Didn't they take Game 1 in San Antonio that year? I'm sure they could've squeezed out two more...maybe even take that series. They were equipped enough.

    3) The run to the WCF. As I said: Melo - Chauncey = T-Mac. Still think I'm bullshittin? Fucked up thing is, they could've won that series. Melo was unguardable that series, and even shut Kobe down a few times.

    4) Series vs. Utah. They crash-landed into that 4 spot after being #2 pretty much all season long, fucking it up in the last week of the regular season. And that STILL doesn't excuse why they went down to Utah in 5. I think the team saw the writing on the wall with Melo during that year. Karl's cancer didn't help, but the Nuggets and Melo both knew he'd never win there.

You get last year, only cause Chauncey was hurt. Even still, they could've won ONE fucking game. Same as this year with Lin.

    i agree...on virtually every point.

they coulda beat the clippers. Thats shoulda been his 1st trip to the semis.

They coulda won more games aginst the spurs but i dont think they woulda won that series.

The WCF run...i...do think they could have won that series...but...i can say kobe wasnt gonna b denied his 1st ship w/o shaq.

    The coulda beat utah too.

And last year...the shoulda at least won game 2 in boston. They had no excuse to lose that game. at all. melo did dam near everything he could to keep them in the game...and even tho his shot at the end of the game was off...i still look at that jared jefferies possession b4 that. da fuk is jared takin that shot for?

Melo also lacks that leadership quailty. I think thats part of the reason y the WCF run happened when chauncey came in...he was the leader from day 1. On this knicks squad...its like denver sans chancey all over again. Maybe they'll make a run if nash comes in...idk

Here's some math I'm going to throw out to you about Melo in the playoffs:

Carmelo Anthony - Chauncey Billups = Tracy McGrady.

    Let that one marinate.

    real shit

As a Knick fan.. I cant defend him... That man is going to have to show and prove in the next season.. The Knicks gave up a lot to get him.. Being Mediocre aint gonna cut it... Nigga got to find a way to get Stat involved as well.. Stat is key to the Knick success going forward...

^Ewing didnt play in the 99 finals he tore his achilles in the ecf vs the pacers

The kniccs will be better next year but I dont know if they can beat the heat in a series ever

u right my mistake at da bolded but IMO Melo needs to pull a Pierce nd sacrifice shots for the better of the team then be the closer. Their careers nd skill sets are similar they both had 1 trip to the Conference finals during their 9th year in da league both were top 5 scorers Melo was just in da playoffs more due to havin a betta team around him he doesnt have to take 25 shots a game for his team to win da more he realizes dat nd focuses more on defense, rebounding nd more hustle plays he might be able to lead his team to a long playoff run. Til then my opinion doesnt change 20,000 point scorer wit no rings or accolades

he won a college title, most outstanding player, freshman of the year, all nba rookie team, several all star games, and won a gold medal.

i don't care for the guy, but dont lie. he's got accolades.

Yall muta forgot Ewing went at Akeem in the 94 finals...

Melo wont be mentioned in those first names when people look back on this era.

    Lebron,Kobe,Wade,Dirk,Pierce, etc will be mentioned

Niggas like carmelo will get that Patrick Ewing type treatment

agreed up until Pat Ewing, thats giving him too much credit

Melo's legacy will be a chucker who didn't know how to do anything else. I've never been a Melo fan. Dude does nothing but dominate the ball and stagnate the offense on his team.

I like how Coach Mike Woodson called him out by saying Melo needs to get in better shape for next season
