Are ya'll serious? I said, you could make an argument that Roy ducked Bhop, and you can. The fight was put on the table several times, and Roy chose not to take it saying that he already beat Bhop and there was no reason to revisit it. There is no question that Roy turned the fight down on multiple occasions so I don't know what you guys think is so funny. You can make the argument that he turned it down because he didn't believe it was a good fight, but that doesn't change the fact that BHop pushed for that fight for years and it didn't happen until they were both past their primes.

Second, most of you dudes claim you're real boxing fans but keep claiming that boxing is still just fine because the one or two fights we get from Floyd or Manny a year do big numbers. Have you guys forgotten that there used to be a big marquis fight every one or two months? How can going from a major fight card every other month down to a major fight card every six months not be a drop? If you guys still feel boxing is of good quality, that is fine, but acting like Boxing hasn't fallen off at all makes me think you guys don't really appreciate what a force boxing was in the past.

as evident by the lamont post casual fans just love being force fed fighters, and that's why boxing will never die......

promoters know what they're doing.....they have their cash cow who they shove down the public's throat, and then they have their prospects ready to take their place....as soon as manny and floyd retire...the next fighters in line will be shoved down the public's throats again....and people who don't follow fighters won't even realize they're victims of a cycle that will keep the sport alive forever....

they'll just repeat the same complaints.....

remember when boxing was "dead" because roy, shane, oscar and tito were falling off???

the casual fan didn't know it... but floyd and manny were killing it on friday night fights, boxing after dark, and shit like that during this period...it's a cycle.....just look closer

I remember back in the early 2000s there was this left handed fighter with braids that came from the olympics... I wanted to follow his career cuz he seemed like he would have been the next big thing but then idk what happened to him.... thats when I use to watch all the fights HBO would give almost every week....anyone have a feeling of who im referring to?
    Rau'Shee Warren

dude just likes amature boxing..i'm not sure if he's ever gonna go pro, cuz he's fighing in the olympics again this summer

the international market for boxing has a much bigger demand than it use to....

so the promoters cater more to those fans than the american fans these days, golden boy and top rank are pretty much the largest promoters right now, and they put on multiple ppv's a year, but they head line the mexican fighters in more of them than they used to....

jcc jr is a prime example of this.. dudes been headlining ppv's for i don't know how long... but i would never order one of them

Roy beat B Hop in 93 in a clear decision

B Hoe pretended to want a rematch years later but wanted 50-50 from a dude who not only already beat him but was the far bigger draw

There was no duck and its not debatable

lamont post dont even deserve a response

no duck...they just couldn't negotiate at the time...

the business aspect of boxing...fans felt the same way then they feel now..they were saying that's why boxing is dying, and were talking about they can't wait till guys like roy retire so the best can fight the best and bla bla bla bla...it's the same shit over and over and over again.....

Niggas keep saying shit like Boxing is outdoing UFC events and shit.

How many non Mayweather/Manny fights are the celebrities yall bragging about showing up to? Why aint any of you niggas bragging about PPV numbers on Klitschko fights? Below the border is the only place boxing is really thriving. That's why they doing such a fantastic job of keeping JCC from fighting anyone worthwhile.

It is what it is bruh.Boxing is trash and has been for over a decade. My brother who is a huge boxing fan agrees with me and says that UFC is much better. You got Floyd running from Pacman and fighting bums and the weight classes all screwed up.Seriously, who really wated to see Floyd vs Cotto? UFC actually gives you the match ups the fans want.Ain't no ducking and dodging in the UFC except blows during a match.Tyson vs Holyfield was the peak of Boxing, fact.

Mid level boxers are making more money than top level MMA'ers.

How does the fighters get paid? PPV and tickets sales. Who buys the tickets and PPV? FANS.

The more people that are interested, the more people that buy your fight, and thus the more money you make.

  • Du_DuDu_Du Posts: 32,163
    actually mayweather/oscar topped tyson/holyfield

and early reports say mayweather/cotto may top it as well...

mma fans are like really short people always trying to overcompensate for their height...

it's a good sport, fast paced and fun to watch...i like mma a lot....a whole lot......

and they do fairly well in their ppv's....enough to stand alone.. but when people trying to over compensate and compare it to boxing, and make wild claims like boxing is dying and mma is killing it and taking it's place...

the numbers will make you look foolish every single time...

boxing will continue to generate the kind of money it generates.. and even after floyd and manny retire there will always be new exciting and emerging stars that will put up the numbers they were putting up... it's the appeal of the sport.. it's never going anywhere...

the most ironic thing about it is that mma might be responsible for indirectly boost boxing sales more so than anything, simply off of the fact that both are combat sports....the better a mma fighter is at boxing....the more complete of a fighter he is.... therefore unless people wanna see uncoordinated striking outta their mma fighter.....boxing absolutely can never die...

boxing has been and always will be the sweet science at the core of any prize fighter, whether he's mma, kickboxing, or a professional boxer.....great boxers and great boxing trainers will always be in high demand, because people love paying money to see people get punched

It's not that I don't know what I am talking about. It's that you don't understand. It's almost like I am typing an alien language to you b.

Who cares about how much money is being made when it's a fact that the UFC is a better fighting sport.Of course boxing will continue to bring in more money because it is watered down and mainstream. My brother thinks it will be bigger than boxing one day and I told him it is impossible because UFC is not mainstream and lacks the appeal with pretty boy (no homo) fighters like Floyd.Boxing is more about selling the fight than the fight itself so do you disagree with that?

lmao @ mma not being mainstream...

the fact that you call ufc a "sport" proves that it's mainstream.....brand recognition already got hat shit locked down

they got a monopoly on that shit, the only game in town....fighters don't get to explore their options....negotiate shit....

    it's all handled for them.....

if anything mma is heading towards a disaster forreal....
