B.o.B. flop or not?

The first week sales projections for B.o.B’s sophomore album Strange Clouds have been revealed.

According to Hits Daily Double, Bobby Ray’s latest release is projected to sell 70,000 to 80,000 copies in its first week. His debut album, B.o.B Presents… The Adventures of Bobby Ray, sold just above the projections, moving 84,000 copies in its first week. That album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, while Strange Clouds will most likely miss the top spot, as Carrie Underwood’s latest Blown Away is expected to bow atop the chart with 275,000 to 295,000 copies sold.

Strange Clouds has already spawned the platinum "Strange Clouds" featuring Lil Wayne as well as “So Good,” which is nearing platinum status.

74,000 + is not really a bust IMO. He will end up pushing 350,000 plus records and that is not far from what Ross, the so-called hottest in the game does.

outside of strange clouds his shit really isnt getting played on urban radio....thats probably why you and alot of other people didn't know his album was out....aint nobody checking for pop stations...

I did, there's only like 4 songs I really think are dope, the rest got were recycle bin worthy. This album definitely isnt better than his debut. I get that he's a musician and this is what he does but its almost like he's just not that good at it anymore or he's REALLY aiming to be more commercial. Either way it falls flat and its not as if he's gonna deliver a bounce back, his next album will be a rock album. Safe to say I dont fuck with B.o.B anymore

I've started to wonder this question. He doesnt seem to have a core fan base, he got SOME fans who been listening to him from the jump but not a strong core. I know I really started bumpin B.o.B when he released May 25th, than I started checkin his previous works. It seems like he got most of his fans off the strength of airplanes & nothing on you tho.

naw i don't think he really has a core fan base..I'm definitely a fan and copped both albums but not really a diehard fan like that and don't know anyone who is..album is solid imo tho..

as for his first week numbers, i'm a little surprised only because even tho Strange Clouds is platinum and So Good is gettin there they weren't nearly as big as Nothin on You and Airplanes..a lot of ppl i knew didn't even know he was droppin an album..

I persoanlly dont think he does....I've never heard his music mentioned outside of the reason....I've never heard niggas jammin him in the whip either....not to say he has zero fans....just saying I dont know anyone who listens to him like that...

I've heard it...on the songs where he's actually rapping are actually good...but out of the 20 or so songs on the album I listen to maybe 4-5

no promo at all
I didnt see B.o.B at one event
I didnt see him do any interviews
He wasnt in any magazines
nothing, TIP spending all his time and attention on this white bitch

Never liked B.o.b's music, but I'd say this is definitely a flop. I think he's got great ideas in music & is a dope artist but lacks personality & stand out appeal to hold a carry over the long term.

Nah I think he let the "Industry" take him in. Had such a bright future as a "rapper" before the Atlantic deal.

Yea i think thats it, no real appeal. Just a normal ass dude and it makes him seem even more normal when he partakes in those larger than life pop records and doesnt even shine.

B.o.B. is a unique case in the hip-hop world. His first-week sales for his debut album did about the same number as this second album did. Unlike most other hip-hop albums, however, he managed to carry that small number of first week sales into a gold plaque. His first-week sales are a reflection of the fact that smash-hit singles don't equal album sales at all.

I didn't think the singles on this album were particularly powerful, but we'll see if they can generate a second gold plaque over time. I'm really not sure.

In terms of this album, a lot of decent songs, but none that particularly moved me, unlike last album.

I'm a fan of his. At least I listened to the first album and a bunch of other tracks he had, but I didn't know him before that or anything.

Adventures was really good and I was worried that this one would suck because it would be tough to make an album as good, but Clouds is actually better than I thought it would be. I can't see myself listening to it for very long though. Bombs Away and Arena will probably be the only tracks that I listen to in the long run.

PS: Chandelier should have been a single. That hook has mad radio potential.
