New York is where they put it all together and created a thing called hip hop. However they been rappin since at least the temptations and all them. They had parts on their song where theyd stop singing and start rhyming like "girl you did me wrong and broke my heart, and said we'd never part..." Most other areas especially the south look at what they do as rap. But this aint no Ny hate thing they helped evolve and spark things definitely.

Even if regionally they aren't poppin as much, no matter what era, NY always has artist competing with the top of the game. Also, New York runs the business side of Hip Hop too with Diddy, Hov and 50 always topping the Forbes list.
