This shit came out like 12 years ago, but this shit is still a brilliant remake of NY State Of Mind. Both Nas and Rakim blacked out.

I considered this "New York State Of Mind Part III". Love the whole Trilogy, even the sequel was Classic:

Its a damn shame the SOUTH had to teach New Yorkers how to win at they own game. If it wasnt for the South NYers would still be stalking record reps handing out demos

Yes, ODB was from BK. Jay Z and Big sampled Dirty voice on "BK's Finest" saying "Brooklyn, Brooklyn". But the photo was cool, it just really brought out how NYC has bread Legendary Rappers. And yes though Long Island isn't apart of the City. It's still apart of New York and is an extension of NYC. Queens is connected to Long Island, where NaS grew up in Long Island City/Astoria. So Rakim and even Prodigy were born in Long Island. It would be cool to see a map of some other regions and all the rapper's they produced. I'm saying NY would win against any of them as far as producing Great rap artist.

the thing about the whole Brooklyn/Queens & Long Island thing is although we are all Nyer we are From NYC while they are considered from NYS as is Yonkers

NYC and NYS is funny the relationships between the cities and boroughs is stupid. Cats in NYC look down on upstate alot of niggas up here don't fuck with NYC and basically look at them as a bunch of loud mouths with way more bark than bite.

People from Manhattan look down on the other boroughs and claim that they're the real NYC, people from L.I. and Mt. Vernon and Yonkers try to squeeze themselfs under the NYC umbrella the politics of the state is all fucked up.

I got a lot of friends from NYC that I fucks with tho, individuals from there are cool as hell but as a whole not so much

So true but when u go out of state and they ask where u from and u say NY they automatically assume NYC. the "Other NY" as i call it doesnt really matter tho in the grand scheme of things. Anything outside of NYC is considered "Country". But thats how NYC set they self up for the L because its but so big and even tho its one of the most important cities in the WORLD they couldnt expect to hold the torch by themselves.

the whole NY shit is out of hand crazy, u have NYC disliking NYS, than u have each Borough hating each other and if that wasnt bad u have the Hoods in each borough hating on the next hood etc

Seven turned to six niggaz, got two in heaven
Six of us, holdin it, now it's five rollin thick
The sixth one's parole flipped; five niggaz, went to fo' quick
when he went O.T., college life, converted into gangbangin
Four niggaz still hangin, years passed and slang changin
Three of us now, fourth nigga ain't around
We all thought he was real -- he did the snake shit
Fake shit -- beat his ass down, yo his mouth
could've got us all wasted, what a fuckin clown
All I got left in the end is two of my best friends

Fuck New York. whats the purpose of all them names on that map when pretty much every nigga on the IC talks shit about 90% of them Dont cheer on Nas now or act like yall never talked shit about Cappadonna being a cab driver. Thats why I dont give a fuck if you call NY mecca, monglia or mars. It dont mean shit to me. New York is a shithole. smells like pollution. niggas dont have lawns, backyards or drivers licesnces. niggas take pride on being 30 years old still living in the same housing project that they funky ass great grandmammy got when she left the SOUTH. I can breathe that good ol Texas air, get in my truck and drive down a stretch of highway without seeing 10,000 disgruntled motherfuckers walking like drones. Nobody give a fuck about NY no more. I havent heard a nigga say "man i sholl want to move to NY" like in almost 20 years. NY is not poppin no more. That "map" is old now. Southern niggas have cars with GPS and we take flights on southwest airline. I dont need a fucking map to remind me of where it all started. I told you motherfuckers Nebraska and Idaho been had niggas rappin in 1966-67 you think im just sayin that shit to be funny yall gonna see though. Fuck New York

    Texas>New York
    Houston>New York City
    Slabs>Trains
    Wide open spaces>Pissy Staircases
Texas BBQ>that deli bullshit yall be eating

    Fuck NYC

You make no sense. Why put Texas and Houston better when Houston IS Texas. Redundant ass post.

u sir need an eye test... lmao new york IS a state, you know that right?????

I guess that depends how far up u go. I'm from Upstate (Poughkeepsie, NY) which is really midstate but anything beyond Yonkers is considered upstate. They emulate NYC alot more and even tho they have they own thing going on but its more NYC influence then anywhere. Buffalo and Albany is more "Country" in terms of a slower way of life even tho its equally dangerous.

The south been independent since Luke 2 live in the mid 80s, Rap a lot, Magic Mike etc. So we were originators in that. The south just too strong and we dont even have to hate on no other region. Plus the majority of black people in other regions ( north, west) came from the south.
