BLACK PANTHER coming in 2014

According to Latino Review, who've offered various reliable scoops in the past, especially involving Marvel movies, the studios' untitled flick that'll be released in 2014, along with the Captain America sequel, is the live-action debut of Wakanda's very own T'Challa; AKA the Black Panther. Although this big news was expected to announced at this year's San Diego Comic-Con convention, the site says verbatim:

THE BLACK PANTHER is going to headline his own film! How do I know? Let’s say I got it from FOUR different trusted sources. Last year, it was reported that Marvel hired Mark Bailey to pen the script and I hear the script is fantastic.

For those unfamiliar, via Marvel, T'Challa is heir to the centuries-old ruling dynasty of the African kingdom Wakanda, and ritual leader of its Panther Clan. His mother died in childbirth, earning him the enduring hatred of his adopted elder brother, Hunter, who also resented T'Challa for supplanting him in the royal household. Hunter would become the White Wolf, leader of the Hatut Zeraze (Dogs of War), the Wakandan secret police. T'Challa's senses and physical attributes have been enhanced to superhuman levels by the heart-shaped herb.

There have been Easter eggs alluding to the character's existence in Iron Man 2 and Thor. And considering the big-screen adaptation of T'Challa falls into 'phase two' of Marvel's cinematic universe, it's very well possible he could appear in Marvel's The Avengers inevitable sequel. And while many actors have expressed interest in the role, including Michael Jai White, Djimon Hounsou & Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who do you think fits?

Love this news, story wise, this could be the strongest of all the marvel movies, hope they get a good writer onboard. He's kind of like the batman of the Avengers, will be interesting to see where they take it.

Severely underrated actor man, don't know what happened to him after that movie...I'd pick him too. They gotta go all in on this one.

Hope they don't cop out and take Idris Elba though, doesn't really 'fit' the role I dont think.

I'm concerned that they already have a date of release in mind which isn't that far away but they don't even have actors or director in place.

There will be a lot riding on this movie especially since Red Tails lost money. The thought around Hollywood would be that if Lucas and Marvel studios can't make a financially successful black movie no one can.

Great points...but dont underestimate the comic reading fanbase....they showed out for Avengers, and this'll have the same Marvel imprint on it, it has a chance.

The writing will have to be good though, because I dont see it making big numbers out of the gate, it needs to be that good word of mouth movie.

Things such as they are with black movies in Hollywood though, a lot'll ride on this as far as black superheroes are concerned.

michael jai white my dude but he is a bit bulky nh to be tchalla he is more of a luke cage to me especially after seeing black dynamite lol.

I wouldnt mind seeing a younger more limber(preferably undiscovered ala superman) actor for this, dude gotta know his martial arts as well.

Considering black panther has a huge white fandom, its a non issue and marvel is using this to replace blade...yea the other successful black super hero movie and blade is a c list hero. Nothing is riding on this movie as far as black super heroes..disney does what the hell they want.
