How long until we get photorealistic CGI graphics?

I was expecting it on next ten systems... but from the recent Unreal and Crytek showing, im not all that impressed with them. Their next gen engines just look like slightly better versions of PS3 games.


Holla @ me when they can produce shit like this and run it at 60 frames per second.

oh... and Hollywood-like animation wouldn't hurt either. Shit is pathetic in some games characters barely have facial expressions and when they do, it looks like a bunch of talking mannequins (LA Noire)

Real Talk..... God of War III is probably the only game that can even come close to some of these.... I think God of War IV might be the game to push console graphics to the next level.

the thing about it is budget.. it cost millions of dollars for those movies to be made.. and its just a MOVIE... a video game is more dynamic.. it would take supercomputers to run those type of graphics at home... the tech aint readily cheap and accessible to the gen pop yet...

but i thought about the same thing when i seen rise of the planet of the apes... i used to think about how good finding nemo looks... i remember hearing something that they dumbed down the water wave graphics so it didnt look too real and scare kids...

yeah i was about to say GoW 3 is the closest ive ever seen. at some points kratos looked like he could be an actual action figure. still the most impressive game visually ive ever seen.

i agree.. thats the whole reason i have a PS3 to begin with. .and it was worth it

BUT i have heard ps3 fanboys claim that UC3 is graphically better than GoW3

@kanggoodie That's because they praise that overrated game. GOW3 graphics are definitely better. UC3 graphics aren't bad but the shooting mechanics, repetitiveness, and wack story makes it a 8.5/10 game.

GOW3 is the best I've seen. Then KZ2 and UC2. The reason UC gets better ratings is because of the settings and bright colours.

Pc can probally do it in a year or 2, however because games are made cross platform and no one wants a crysis situation again stuff like this is 10 plus years off when everyones hardware is comparably strong.
