and you both got hired same time period and your education level is the same plus general experience before this job is about the same..give or take 1 year difference..That one year is rather insignificant because they werent really in the industry or doing anything significant during that period..

how do you handle it?

found out by accident that someone i work with is making close to 2 dollars more than me..we just got hired 2 weeks ago and first paycheck he opens on the web and forgot to log out lol..ofcourse im nosey and got that dose of ether...shit hurt my pride mayne...we're doing the same damn job...

you never know the full story..

maybe they're a better employee..show more leadership potential, resume looked better...maybe they were more demanding about salary off top..

maybe they know them personally...

there could be many factors to weigh in....but i think exposing yourself would do more harm than good...

shit definitely sucks though..

shit like this motivates me to get myself in a position where im irreplaceable or atleast specialized enough to where leaving would make an impact or really affect work flow.

nah..i've spoken to this guy...he just graduated same time as me...looked the company online same as me and submitted resume..it wasnt any connect or anything...

maybe it was the interview....maybe they really came in gung-ho about what they should get.......but still thats a significant difference even if they were passionate about their salary expectation...

i admittedly didnt force the salary negotiation maybe as much as i should've ..hindsight...i just figure the main thing in these jobs is to get in the door and then do your thing..especially since you're a relatively new grad...

If you haven't received a raise in 2 years, and it's reasonable you feel you should, ask for one. If it's ignored, leave your job.

Always been told that, even asked my boss when I worked for Target about that and he said if you've worked hard and still don't get a raise within 2-3 years, you should leave. He said most people won't though, they'll stay and slave their asses off for one and don't get it for like 4-5 years.

Reminds me of when I got my first Information Technology internship when I was in undergrad. Because I look older than I am, I ended up making 15.25 an hour (Graduate student rate) as oppose to 11.25 an hour (undergraduate rate). For some reason, HR never asked or looked at my transcript hard enough and I somehow slid through that part of the process. Dude I was working with did the same job as me, trained me, was a few years older and mentioned only making 11 bucks. If he knew what I made he would have turned my arse in with the quickness. Nigga was one of those "disgruntled worker/mad at the world" types . Man I went from making 7.50 an hour sacking groceries and stocking produce to 15.25 sitting on my ass all day and choosing what my off days were. My early twenties were full of wins.
