I think the term "homophobia" is really supposed to highlight the irrationality of people's dislike of LGBT; as most "phobias" are completely irrational.
Which is ultimately the question here: why don't you like LGBT people t/s?
On a visceral level that shit is gross, accidentally seeing some homo shit gets one or two reactions, either I turn away with the screw face or I laugh inthe case of some gay dude wearing some obnoxiously extra flame outfit. Like what?
If I see a nigga in the hood wearing a skirt Imma look at that dude like he weird as fuck, because he's weird as fuck. Why are you wearing female garments?
Same thing I laught at dykes when they call themsleves studdin actin extra mannish some of that shit is comical only because my mind can't really process this type of fuckery.
On a communal level, I've stated before that Black folks really don't have a culture, hasn't really stopped us from having some core values, and one of those is basically side eyeing gay shit. It didnt start changing till Black women started changing their stance we can argue back and forth all day on that. However, being that we lack a culture means that we as black folks are vulnerable to having everyone else's societal norms pressed upon them.
If we were a solid culture, and our viewpoint was nah we dont get down with that type of lifestlye then it don't matter what everyone else says because we are grounded and rooted in our teachings. Even if someone from within decided that is route they will take with their life, there is an obvious departing with our hypothetical culture in order to pursue it. We don't though, so piece of shit lifestyle and habit that exists or is manufactured gloms itself onto us.
Now we see there is some resistance with this generation of Blacks to the so called gay agenda, next generation will have none or will completely apathetic to it.
Never heard that before. Or maybe I just never heard it articulated before. Very interesting. Totally false, in my opinion. But still very interesting. Thanks.
I don't think the average gives a fuck about who another person is fuckin, but people will have an opinion on someone's lifestyle if its known in the sphere of existence.
I find it odd that people are allowed to have thoughts on every matter that occurs in the world but somehow if you have an opinion about someone's lifestyle which they publicly display then somehow obsession is the root.
That's not how people work, if I see something I am going to make a judgement about it, that's how most people work even the most trivial of minutiae, 'yo dog this peach flavored arizona tea is fyah,' ' man them new jordans out are huff as hell', 'shawty thick than a mug, I wanna get up in it.' People make value judgements about everything,
that is the cornerstone of personhood. So people say nah man I aint feelin seein two dudes kissin on each other (i can barely type that shit) draws up a serious screw face.
The only thing that straight dudes are doing is pushing back against this GLAAD and LGBT get down or laydown philosophy.
Same time though, I wouldn't spend any emotion on the issue, emotion leads to investment and can easily be flipped into obsession, and we all know that obsession is very dangerous.
Very true. But I think this is more aimed at the people who go out of their way to bash how other people live their life like it affects them. Two separate things. There is not agreeing with some shit. Then there is spewing hatred, etc, towards that thing. Example:
You see a nigga wearing a pair of retro 4's. You think 'Them shits are hideous.' And that's that.
vs.
You see a nigga wearing a pair of retro 4's. You think 'Them shits are hideous.' Then you hop on the IC an make a thread about how them shits are ugly and you can't rock with anybody who wears 'em. And you want to pass a law preventing niggas from buying them shits. And that you'd be heartbroken if your son came home in a pair.
See the difference?
But why even make that point in this topic? This topic isn't about hatred for gays. It's about the rejection of the idea that not caring for the homosexual lifestyle means you're scared of gays.

So basically, it "offends" you because it doesn't fit into your perception of what "normal" behaviors are. Exactly what I thought.
If you believe it totally false then you must have a reason. I'd like to hear how something you've never heard before can be interesting and at the same time summarily dismissed a false without any counter anecdote, reasoning, or observation.
My main issue is with the level of hostility towards gays. I don't even think its necessary to be so upset about it.
Honestly, I don't think there is a lot of general hostility towards them. Yes, you have the flat out bigots who hate irrationally, but there are people like that against literally every group. I think most of the dislike towards gays is in response to their "In your face" way of handling everything. A large portion of us don't really care about what gays do until they go out of their way to beat us over the head with their lifestyle. I can understand a lot of what they do is in an effort to get equal rights, but their tactics are just overboard sometime.
Take the whole Chik-Fil-A thing for example. So one guy gives his opinion and you want to cause an uproar about it. You don't like what he said and want to boycott the restaurant? Fine, go for it, but the whole "gather up a bunch of gay people and make out in front of Chik-Fil-A" shit is going too far. That's the kind of thing that turns people who are indifferent towards gays into people who dislike gays.
@The Lonious Monk that whole gays going to the chick fil a and kissing and making out is inappropriate because children go to that restaurant as well, imagine if you was there with your son and he sees two men kissing each other and making out and he ask you why are those two guys kissing ? What in hell does heterosexual man say to his son about those action without coming off hateful?

Exactly, and they do shit like that all the time. There was an incident out in Cali where a preacher gave an anti-homosexual sermon to his congregation. So, a group of them thought it would be a good idea to get half naked, storm into the church the next Sunday, and cause a scene. And then there was the time that they had the whole gay marriage bill in Cali that people were voting on. It got shot down, and the media reported that the largest percentage of people against the bill were black. So the next day the gays basically harassed and hurled epithets at every black person they saw including the homosexual blacks that had been protesting in favor of the bill for weeks.
Again, it's kinda hard to take a neutral stance against people that behave like that.
@TwentyFive.Lighters so according to the link, men who are homophobic, in other words, don't like gay shit to happen around them, are actually gay themselves and are in denial?
That link is on some bullshit. Its a war going on out here to get people to accept gay people, reason why the agenda is being pushed so hard is because some prominent people in society are homos, so they're trying to push their agenda. In any war, whether its a physical, spiritual, or mental war, propaganda is used, and is often the strongest method in fighting a war. In other words, Gays are financing and pushing these bullshit experiments to get people who don't like gays to think they are gays themselves. In the words of Chuck D, don't believe the hype.
I just find it ironic. There's some Freudian Psychology to it, really.
A lot of that shit is cause & effect though. The whole Chik-Fil-A nonsense was political theater because that company actively works against gays interest, otherwise that wouldn't have happened, same with the church thing.
I completely agree with the annoying "in your face" acts of homosexuals but I also understand that most of these organizations bring it on themselves by their own intolerance.
All this shit needs to stop. There's no purpose to gay pride parades or gay PDA's other than pissing off bigots. Both sides spend too much time antagonizing each other and then playing the victim, its gotten ridiculous.
I am not homophob, but its too many homos trying to make ppl gay. just because someone do not want to have sex with a homo don't mean they are stuck up or judging

If you believe it totally false then you must have a reason. I'd like to hear how something you've never heard before can be interesting and at the same time summarily dismissed a false without any counter anecdote, reasoning, or observation.
It wasn't summarily dismissed. I thought about it, considered what you were saying, then decided that I disagreed. And my reasoning comes from me disagreeing with the fundamental claim that black people have no culture. Black people have culture. It's definitely not as extensive as other cultures, because so few black people in this country can even trace their ancestry more than a generation or two. But the culture is there. There are a few other things you said that I disagree with. But they all stem from that concept.
But now that I think on it, 'false' is probably the wrong word, since it's really an opinion. You have your opinion. I have mine. Know what I mean?

I'm glad someone else understands this. I get so tired of people claiming that African Americans have no culture. Considering how much other groups emulate or steal from our culture, it's pretty silly to say it doesn't exist.
Heterophobia seems to dominate this board
Heterophobes fear the social norm in all societies
Heterophobic demeanor causes the faggot to make lame attempts at pulling off a psychological flip flip that they utilize as a last line of defense.
It's a definite & valid truth that gays suffer more from a phobia (fear) of those who are not of them than the other way around.
I don't think the average gives a fuck about who another person is fuckin, but people will have an opinion on someone's lifestyle if its known in the sphere of existence.

I disagree.
Culture:
the behaviors and beliefs characteristic of a particular social, ethnic, or age group
Can we even come to a consensus about what Black beliefs are and characteristics, what about political and economic aims?
I'm going to say no, but if anyone can answer those questions I'll be glad to hear it. I'll go on to say that even though we may invent or reinvent many things because we have no culture we are always getting our shit siphoned off to other people.
For example, if you saw a chinese dude wearing a kung fu get up, most people wouldnt think twice about it. In our minds that fits on him its apart of what we perceive as his culture, and if anyone else rocks the same outfit then we look at that person as foolish, like why you wearing bruce lee's pajamas outside?
We cans ay the same thing about a jewish guy wearing a yarmulke, if fits on him someone else it looks like a joke.
However with black innovations or arts we have been so open as to let everyone else partake because 1) we seek acceptance from everyone which means we dont guard ourselves against anyone. Every outsider is free to have an opinion.
This is one of those topics where you ain't gon' sway anyone opinions using logic and common sense...or using anything really. So it's kinda pointless. But...

YOU ARE SOOOOOOO MANHOODAPHOBIC!!!!! Why would somebody "like" something that disagrees with their very essence? Look at my original post and stop over analyzing shit like a female lol.
off topic:
So why do you "like" the idea of two men fucking each other in the ass and rubbing their beards together? Why doesn't this as a man seem weird or unmanly to you?
I think the term "homophobic" refers to a discomfort for homosexuality.... Not necessarily the fear of a gay dude. It's more of a slang term, I think.
That's my 2 cents. I didn't come in here to spew out hatred towards homosexuals or whatever. So, I'll refrain from using terms like "faggot" and what not. I also won't go into graphic detail about why I hate gays or why it's a "sin" to be gay and blah, blah, blah.. That's already been done a billion times here.
If you hate gay people, well, COOL. You're entitled to your beliefs! I just wish some of y'all could be a little more cerebral and intellectual when presenting your arguments. Some of y'all are making good points, but the way that you're presenting your case makes some of y'all seem uneducated.

That is all.
I totally agree with you. Rather than address the issue presented some would rather try to make it into something it's not SMH.
Yo, I was gonna post this shit all cordial and shit. But then I thought that shit was gonna take too long so I just got right to the point. I just gave it to y'all raw!!!!(no homo)
some "straight" people spend way too much time thinking and talking about gayness.
NIGGA THIS SHIT AINT EVEN GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS THREAD THOUGH!!!! LOL. I know you gay and all AND I REALLY DON'T GIVE A FUCK!! THAT YOU ARE. That's not the issue here, how about you address my post and push your homotions to the side for a bit.

For real doe dun you gettin too emotionally invested. Leaves you open to counter attack. You gotta be cold and logical with the issue because reasoning is the only weapon against madness.

the average hetero person could care less about them getting married

There are a few other things you said that I disagree with. But they all stem from that concept.
But now that I think on it, 'false' is probably the wrong word, since it's really an opinion. You have your opinion. I have mine. Know what I mean?

Culture:
the behaviors and beliefs characteristic of a particular social, ethnic, or age group

So why do you "like" the idea of two men fucking each other in the ass and rubbing their beards together? Why doesn't this as a man seem weird or unmanly to you?

So, I'll refrain from using terms like "faggot" and what not. I also won't go into graphic detail about why I hate gays or why it's a "sin" to be gay and blah, blah, blah.. That's already been done a billion times here.
If you hate gay people, well, COOL. You're entitled to your beliefs! I just wish some of y'all could be a little more cerebral and intellectual when presenting your arguments. Some of y'all are making good points, but the way that you're presenting your case makes some of y'all seem uneducated.
That is all.
