The Los Angeles Lakers are once agains the talk of the NBA, but they won’t be debuting their new jewel until at least the regular season. The Lakers have announced that Hollywood Howard won’t finish his rehab from back surgery in time to participate fully in training camp and thus will likely not be ready to start the preseason.
The fear in Los Angeles is that Howard won’t be ready for the season opener, and the Lakers are neither denying or confirming his status for the October 30th opener and don’t plan on giving a timetable for his return, but the Lakers can take it easy when it comes to Hollywood’s health.
It’s not like Dwight Howard’s injury and his slow recovery is going to throw a wrench in the Lakers machine. Remember, Andrew Bynum was the Lakers center and he wasn’t always the most healthy of centers during his tenure. The Lakers say Pau Gasol will be ready to play the middle when training camp opens, which will serve as a decent stop-gap until Hollywood Howard returns.
The question now becomes how good will Howard be when he does come back. He’s coming off of some pretty serious spinal surgery and it could take a while for him to get back to his Superman ways. But Lakers “fans” rarely care about talent in the early stages of the season, it’s all about flash and pizazz and with the likelihood of Howard not being in the lineup on Opening Night, the flash and pizazz will have to wait.
For how long will be what Lakers fans will be pining over until it happens.
Jalen Rose Intentionally Injured Kobe Bryant In The 2000 NBA Finals
by Andrew Tredinnick | Sep. 19, 2012, 12:10 PM | 746
Jalen Rose said the number one unwritten rule in the game of basketball is that a defender should never put their foot under an opposing jump shooter during his podcast for the Grantland Network on Tuesday.
But the former NBA guard also said he was guilty of breaking that rule throughout his career.
Rose admitted that during Game 2 of the 2000 NBA Finals between the Indiana Pacers and the Los Angeles Lakers, he purposely slipped one of his feet under Kobe Bryant while he was in the air, causing Kobe to sprain his left ankle.
Kobe eventually missed Game 3, but got the last laugh winning his first of five titles in the six-game series.
^^Mumo is mad, just worry about milk-box Harden being distracted all year becuz of a lack of contract. remember how erratic Russ was eaerly last year b4 his contract got done. OKC has 30 days, ya'll better trade that disappearing bum
^^^^ i like arenas for 15 min a night. nash can only play 30 min cuz of his age. we goin for the chip!!!!
You think at this stage of his career he can play over Duhon and Blake? ....Blake is trash to me but Arenas has fell into a whole different category as far as being washed up cuz of injuries
And him and Dwight on the same team is kinda scary , that team needs to stay focused....two overgrown silly ass dudes i dunno how that would work out
