Young Jeezy Announces CTE/Atlantic Records Imprint, Explains Freddie Gibbs' Exit

ome light has been shed on Freddie Gibbs' untimely departure from CTE, as Young Jeezy announces a new CTE/Atlantic Records imprint.

Young Jeezy has been in the news lately for making moves up the hip hop corporate ladder, and being implicated in a few beefs. Earlier today it was confirmed that Freddie Gibbs had parted ways with CTE after signing with Snowman’s label. Turns out that Jeezy, who is the Sr. Vice President of A&R at Atlantic Records, has moved his CTE label over to Atlantic.

In a press release, the new venture is described as dedicated to finding and launching careers of new talent worldwide. Seems Jeezy and Gibbs parted ways amicably and it was a decision based on the direction of the new imprint, as Jeezy says, “Freddie is a talented artist and I decided that it's time to press reset on my career and business ventures. I have no doubt that Freddie will go on to be everything I believe he can be, and I wish him the best in his career.”

Apparently the CTE honcho was looking to start over, and on this new project wanted to go a brand new direction, as he says “This is a fresh start for the CTE brand as we re-launch it. This is why I chose to wipe the slate clean and create an outlet to support and nurture new artists to the best of my ability."

This comes at the same time that Jeezy’s long time rival, Rick Ross, announces that MMG will be moving over to Atlantic Records as well. Could this be the end of their beef, or only cause more friction in the future?
