Impervious

Closed caption, don't need the words to see their reactions
News channels flashing and we all stopped laughing
Hitting a little bit close to home, minds in a cyclone
We still bickering over nonsense like the characterization of your skin tone
Mothers can't replace what they lost, fathers are throwed off
Self blaming cause they couldn't protect their seeds when the guns went off
I feel them; the bait is always fresh for the sharks to reel em
Time escaping us as we take time to heal them
Something is not right with the equation in this time placement
I hate men, who consider this is just another day in the mayhem
In the AM, I pray for the lost and I pray for the found
Lord help me with my patience and let my words strike profound
Upon the cold metal placed over hearts, those who won't embark
Or understand that one individual can cause a whole nation to spark
If evil can impact a change then where is the good?
Instead they blame others instead putting it where it should
I know it can't be perfect but we can do a whole lot better
Instead of getting worse and waiting for someone else to pull the lever
So the floor gives way under our feet while we fast asleep
Wake up and breathe in wisdom instead approaching everything logically
We should offer apologies for forgetting about our birthright
To ourselves, cause ever since then nothing hasn't even worked right
But from the dark comes the light so we keep on pushing
It doesn't matter if you a west coast g or a king from Brooklyn
Take time for the older and teach the youngins
Offer a umbrella to those in catastrophic storms, bewildered and wondering
The change starts with us but first it starts with you
Yeah we all got different views but learn how to listen too
Hopefully this reaches you, like it once did me
And if I forget this true purpose don't be slow to remind me
We all are not perfect but we can do a better community service
To those who need us to defend what's sacred, standing guard impervious
