Guillermo del Toro Working On DC 'Dark Universe' Movie

Look out, Marvel Studios! It appears that Warner Bros. is also aiming to create a cohesive movieverse for their comic book properties. While chatting with IGN, Hellboy director Guillermo del Toro confirmed an old rumor -- he's working on a DC movie currently being called Dark Universe.

"I'm writing the outline and we already are in talks with a writer. A very, very good writer. I think people are going to be happy with who we have chosen and he accepted."

Regarding the roster, the director named Swamp Thing, The Demon, Deadman, John Constantine, The Spectre, Zatanna and Zatara.



When asked if the success of The Avengers motivated Warner Bros to move forward with their comic properties, del Toro says the studio had plans before Marvel's team-up dominated the box office.

ive been reading Swamp Thing, pretty dope comic so far. Tried out Deadman but didnt stick with it, and i like constantine a lot. Not too familiar with the others, but i like Del Toro's work so i have high hopes for it.

Did the WB have the DC characters in development for film projects? Probably yes, but let's be serious, it was the success of Marvel Studios that got they're ass in gear. If it wasn't for The Avengers niggas would still be on that "a Justice League movie isn't practical or viable," shit.
