I don't know... I mean, it is what it is. America fine tuned racism long before they fine tuned apple pie and democracy. I just feel like there are more pressing issues for us and especially politicians (like the Mayor of D.C.) to be concerned with.

I actually think a team name is always a compliment to whatever it's named after. Teams look for intimidating and "strong" names to give their organization and they picked the Redskins (decades ago in a different time when hoes couldn't vote and black people couldn't do anything but work hard as hell and get hanged from trees.)

And before anybody asks "how would you feel about a football team called the Detroit Darkies" or sum shit, my answer is simple =

I would feel ALMOST as disrespected as I do about the disparity and lack of Black coaches in the NFL. Or the black-on-black crime rate in Chicago, or the quality of inner city public schools... Almost.

That's the way I see it -- It's petty.


But that's America in the 21 century for you. Our so called leaders are too chickenshit to deal with REAL issues, instead they go after winnable, petty issues that really won't change anybody's day to day lifestyle either way.

lol Where ya'll been? This fight has been going on for years. I thought only racist ass white people were oblivious to how racist that name was. It ain't even just the name though. A lot of these teams with Native American themes have crazy caricatures of them as mascots.

It's like if there was a team called the Sacramento Sambos and the mascot was a white dude in black face with a piece of chicken in one hand and a watermelon in the other.

Judges at the district and circuit levels said the activists' trademark cancellation claim was barred by the doctrine of laches, which serves as a statute of limitation against claims that should have been made long ago. Attorney Philip J. Mause's petition says such claims can be brought at any time and cites a decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit, which was written by then-judge, now-Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr.

The Supreme Court takes only a fraction of the petitions it receives, and probably will not decide on this one for months.

Co-sign. Being that I'm 1/8 Cherokee and from a state where Native Americans still exist, here's a few facts that make me less likely to give a fuck...

1. They can go to any state college or university for free.

2. Those Casinos and tax-free reservations they own were given to them via reparations. (And people from the southwest like Oklahoma and Texas know about those Indian "smoke shops" that sell cigarettes an' shit tax-free which allows them to undercut competition.)

3. They fight tooth and nail to disown African Americans who are partially Native American from being allowed into their organizations and receive their benefits. (But they're cool with us buying Blacks and Phillies from their smoke shops and spending all our paper in their roach-leg casinos tho.)
