The school system needs to be changed and classes needs to be more engaging and thought provoking. Science and math need to be vamped up because we are so damn behind.
Good question. I've thought about that. If the public schools are shut down, it's going to be a problems for those that have parents that can't afford to go to private school. Also even with the public schools, they don't have the resources that private schools have.
I guess a start would be to stop focusing on standardized testing, and start figuring out some innovative methods so that all the students have a real shot. Another thought I had would be a commission only pay, so that they are forced to actually teach students, but I can see numerous problems with this. It's already bad enough that kost teachers don't give a shit, imagine what it would be then.
Part of the problem from the last decade has been "No Child Left Behind". Teachers are now more focused with getting the kids to pass an exam instead of teaching them the raw fundamentals of each subject so that they will be functional enough in each area that they would pass the tests anyways.
Do away with "No Child..." and tell the teachers to start over with the basics and watch the kids do much better.

It's a false promise. I heard this shit many of times in school.
With that said, do ya'll feel the system failed you despite your success?
Parents have to be forced to meet up with the teacher once a month not every three months or never. Parents have to be engaging and there has to be more care in a child's education. Second, we need to teach kids to be innovators not just employees. There is no room for that especially in a growing technological global world we live in today. There are no factory jobs enough to raise a family on anymore, people need to innovate and start becoming their own boss.
There is so much to change to better people here and economic system needs to be changed as well to socialism more so where the class system ceases.
i work in schools...these negroes would rather watch fights on youtube and listen to boosie than learn something but maybe its just a Texas thing
Nope. It's nationwide. I teach in Brooklyn.
From elementary on up, 85% of these kids are FUCKED. The main reason: they're not learning a damn thing at home. I can tell who's parents are putting in work with their kids and who's ain't, and it's not tha many. Shit is devastating.

Public? Are you a teacher?
yep but not for long though these lil niglets are on their own lol
You're part of the problem. SMH
naw their parents are...... there is only so much looking out for them I can do when the people that need to be dropping jewels on them should be the ones they live with

I can understand to a small degree, but at what point will these say to the parents what should be done, and how the parents and teachers can brainstorm?
As far as high school goes they should make it more like college where students can choose a course they are really interested in ,instead of wasting there time taking calculus 2 they can take another biology class because by the time people are softmores-seniors they know they are not interested in some fields as a career
we need to make it attractive for our smartest & most engaging people to be drawn into academia. idk if that's better pay, benefits....but america doesn't really value education & that's probably the biggest problem with it. not enough people passionate about teaching or learning in general. it's hard to get anything done when the general attitude is a kanye shrug.

I work at an Alternative school and this is a school for students that were kicked out of regular High Schhols for behavior or attendance problems so me and a couple of teachers were talking today about the amount of students that stay in trouble when they are already on their 3rd strike for even attending a Alternative school in the first place. Its frustrating because sometime we care too much and we can tell the parents of some of these students just let them run wild when they leave the campus

I think regurgitating knowledge is not learning, deductive reasoning needs to be thought.
More practical things need to be thought, stuff like managing your credit, balancing your check book, etc.
