Why don't old hip hop albums sell?

looking at that hip hop fans are the worst thread made me remember about this question. When I was a senior in high school my teacher asked me this question. He said why is it that 80s and 90s hip hop don't sell. you'll have young rock fans that go back and buy albums that came out way before they were born and have artist that haven't released anything in decades still go platinum today. but why isn't it takes a nation of millions or license to ill selling now? what do yall think?
