Jamie Foxx: 'black people are the most talented people in the world'

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Actor Jamie Foxx is again facing a backlash for making a controversial, racially charged remark, this time for making a statement about black superiority during an NAACP awards ceremony. Foxx declared that black people are the 'most talented people in the world' at the 44th annual NAACP Image Awards, drawing the ire of conservative critics who took offense to what they considered a racist remark.

As he accepted the Entertainer of the Year Award during the Feb. 1 ceremony, he praised other luminaries such as Harry Belafonte and Sidney Poitier, saying that he was humbled by the amazing people he shared the stage with. 'Black people are the most talented people in the world. I, it’s, I can’t explain it,' Foxx said. 'You can’t sit in this room and not watch Gladys Knight sing and go like, “Golly, what in the world?”'

The site NewsBusters, which claims its mission is to expose the media's bias toward the left, picked up on the comment and writer Noel Sheppard criticized Foxx for what he lambasted as a 'really stupid' remark. 'Can you imagine the heat a white actor would get if he said at a nationally televised awards ceremony, "White people are the most talented people in the world?" Sheppard wrote. 'Probably be the end of his or her career.'

The site Red Alert Politics, which caters to young conservatives, described the comment as a 'backhanded' criticism of 'performers of all other races.' 'Foxx shouldn't ignore other talented actors and singers who may not share his skin color,' wrote Kelsey Osterman.

It was hardly the first time Foxx had caused this sort of stir. He took flak for at one point comparing President Barack Obama to Jesus. Some of the jokes he made on a recent 'Saturday Night Live' episode to promote his new film 'Django Unchained' didn't sit well with some observers, either. Foxx said on the comedy show that, in Quentin Tarantino's latest history-revising revenge-fantasy, he plays a freed slave who kills 'all the white people in the movie...How great is that?'

In interviews after the release of the film, in which he is attempting to rescue his wife from a cruel slave owner played by Leonardo DiCaprio, Foxx said he expected the movie would provoke strong reactions from the black community and he revealed how 'every single thing in my life is built around race.'

He said that black people are 'always sensitive' about race and often see everything through a racial prism. 'As a black person it's always racial,' he reportedly said, according to the Daily News.

'I don't necessarily speak it because you can't,' he said.

I see a lot of people saying they'd "give" family members money.

Thats not what you want to do.

You want to set up a trust fund so they get a monthly payment. You can set up a trust fund so your mother gets, say, $10,000 a month for the rest of her life. According to my math, $10,000 per month for 20 years is $2.4 million. That's better than giving her $2.4 million up front because she can blow it all in a matter of days and then she'll want more and you'd feel obligated to give it to her.

So if you win, don't "give" anybody anything. Set up a trust fund.

Now that I think about it, I could set up a trust fund for my brother. I'd give him $10,000 a month. He's about 45 now so $10,000 per month for 40 years is only $4.8 million. That makes more sense than giving him the money in one lump sum.

I agree with this, to an extent. A cracca would face flak for this but would prolly be rewarded with a radio program and a multi-million dollar deal. Instead, of their career ending.

    Regardless....Jamie was telling the truth.

Credit where credit is due though. Blacks might be the most talented but whites are the most talented at profiting off of them.
Closely followed by Chinks/chanks and Arabs....and the very bottom of the list, other blacks.

Nigga was cold on the bball court though, I didn't get that starting spot until he stopped coming to school. School let out at 3 we had to stay till the games at 6 so he used to just rap about whatever people talkin about passng time.

Then he started hanging w C-Loc and them, rappin/hustling whatever, rarely came to school anymore. When he did he would just be Polo down.... come, counting stacks $ at recess, everybody lookin.

OH and biology class blunt fell out his ear and the teacher tried to grab it. He twist that lady arm grabbed the blunt off the floor n left. lol

It may have been true at one point, but I don't think so anymore. Now everything's controlled by money to the point that a lot of black people willingly sacrifice creativity for whatever will make the most money the fastest. The reason our music, literature, dance, etc... was so good and fresh in the past is because people weren't doing it for money as much as they were doing it for the artistry and the expression.

Just look at Hip Hop. If you listen to most of the rappers from the past talk about how they got started. A lot of them didn't even think they'd make a career out of it. They were just doing it for the love of the art, and that showed through their music. Nowadays, people know rap can make you a lot of money, so a lot of these new artists are less concerned with making a good product and more concerned with pumping out whatever is likely to be hot.

watering down your art doesnt equal to having no talent

No, but if everything is watered down to the point where the talent no longer needs to be fostered to create, the talent becomes nonexistent.
