Black women-natural/relaxed with edges i need your input!

i just purchased the olive oil edge control today, because as ive gotten natural, my edges have become more unruly, in my relaxed days id just wet it put a scarf on for like 20mins and my edges would be layed like a muddafucka, but naw my natural hair dont wanna cooperate, so far the only thing thats worked is gel, or castor oil put on the night before and tied down. i want to stay away from gel though because i really dislike hard hair, and it just feels drying, even though its alcohol free.
i bought this product on a whim, but looking at the youtube reviews..it aint sounded so hot, which i dont get because i see alot of chicks on youtube constantly using it in their styling videos

what are youre thoughts on this product?
what do you like/dislike bout it?
any better product for holding down edges to recommend?

i usually just use a soft bristle brush to smooth down my edges before tying it up. my hair texture is very fine tho, so i can't use products near my scalp or edges cuz it'll weigh it down easily

if you are having a problem with dryness, i'd recommend getting a strong leave in conditioner, but wrapping it before you go to bed is probably the best way to deal with it

That product is shit, tbh. It has moderate amounts protein which I personally wouldn't advise for daily use (creates "hard" look/feel). According to multiple reviews I've glanced over, it has a high potential to leave a white residue on your strands

Keep it simple. Use your spritz bottle (a water/evoo/coconut oil mix works beautifully), spray edges, tie on scarf if you're doing a slicked back sleek look ~for at least 20mins~, untie, and go! Method has been working for me for 5 years

I don't mess with that any more, I heard it breaks your edges off. I very rarely use anything aside from coconut oil, maybe some aloe vera gel and water and tie my hair down. Works for me.
