ESPN's Jay Mariotti Arrested on Felony Charge

LOS ANGELES -- ESPN personality and AOL sports columnist Jay Mariotti has been arrested on a felony charge in Los Angeles.

Officer Norma Eisenman says the 51-year-old Mariotti was arrested early Saturday in the police department's Pacific Division following a "domestic incident." Eisenman declined to provide further details.

The Sheriff's Department website confirms Mariotti was booked on an undisclosed felony charge at 5:45 a.m. and is being held on $50,000 bail.

ESPN spokesperson Josh Krulewitz said, "We've just learned of it and are looking into it," declining further comment.

Mariotti lives in Los Angeles. He is a panelist on the ESPN show "Around the Horn" and writes a regular column for the sports website Fanhouse.com.

He was a longtime columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times.

But you got to remember some of these panelist just do it for show. The reason ATH is a good show is because you have different perspectives. jay mariotti takes the hard ass approach to it.

But this does make him look bad. Especially him slapping up his woman.

Like him or not, I always felt he was pretty on target on most things. That being said, enjoy the justice system Mariotti, and the press that goes with it. Especially the twisted selectivity of your employer.

Since ESPN was quick to jump on this and report it, it doesn't look like you'll be given the "Steve Phillips/ESPN will look the other way and pretend it didn't happen" treatment.

Funny though how ESPN can jump on this within minutes, yet they never could comment on LeMomma's sex scandal when she was getting pounded by Delonte.

Once again, ESPN's selectivity in reporting the dirt it wants to report is more than obvious.

What's funny is if they do report on this on 1st or Ten or a show like that all of he colleagues are going to wish him the best and say wait for the facts, but if it was an athlete they would be ripping him early monday morning.
