who thinks jay elec has a chance at droppin somethin?

i see this deal goin down with the same outcome as tru life signin to the roc. not that he'll get locked up, but definitely no album. not sayin he's wack, but its damn near impossible for a good artist to get an album out on a major. just look at:

saigon (atlantic)
papoose (flip mode)
serius jones ( DTP)
sunN.Y. (so so def)
jae millz ( like 9 failed deals now he's on YM and never droppin nothin official on there)
quan ( Ill Will)

i could go on for days about talented dudes that was signed and never got shit outta it. its one of the things i notice unfortunately thats why i was so happy when slaughterhouse formed. lets hope im wrong about this one though

    Saigon fucked himself up
Papoose oversaturated and proved he was a one track artist
Serius Jones had a spark when he started but has the same symptoms as pap
    who?
Jae ghost writing for young money most likely, better then the other niggas
    who?

Jay Electronica has a bigger spark then any and everyone you have mentioned. He has shown he can not only spit bars for the sake of spitting bars but make dope MUSIC. nigga sforget jay elect is a beat maker/producer himself. Dude fits in more with the mos def, Talbi group rather anyone you dared to mention. Jay Elect will be fine considering J.Cole and Wale doing alright. Cole probably begged for this nigga to get signed after seeing jay picked up willow in less then three days

I don't see the same outcome with Jay Electronica..he's been in the game long enough to know the pros and cons...considering he didn't sign with Diddy.
A lot might think Jay signing with Roc Nation is probably no different, but in a sense Jay is giving his artists room to create their own lane and destiny.

Diddy has a proven track record of releasing successful albums from multiple genres, and all Jay Z has done as far as releases in rap is Wale. That's it. Ms. Monae has enjoyed a plethora of artistic freedom since 2007 and she's on Bad Boy.

Not knockin' Jay Z but people keep talkin' like he's actually done something to develop successful rappers and their is no proof of such.

Anyway, today is a new day. With Cole & Elec? So far so good.

I agree..Jay's not "developing" per se..but Jay unlike Diddy doesn't hold tight on the reins of an artist's career..plus everyone knows Diddy's a control freak anyway and Jay Elec didn't want that type of energy to control his creativity. The same with J. Cole..

I think they should do a track called "the letter J"...

It's 2010. Bad Boy's not holding Monae back THIS YEAR NOR IS DIDDY OVERBEARING IN REGARDS TO HER CAREER. People always bring up what Diddy did in the past but they fail to mention that 85% of those acts were successful.

Jay does not have a real track record with rappers. All he has is Wale. This is uncharted territory and Cole as well as Elec are taking a risk here because Jay has a vast amount of resources available along with a company built for the modern music industry. Will he be able to make his rappers a success with it? We don't know, but people love to talk like Jay has already done a lot in this area when he hasn't. Diddy has.

    J. Cole has a nice buzz. i can't quite explain it, but despite being the number 1 twitter topic, it still seems like he has a subtle buzz.
Jay Elec might end up traveling a similar route.

Three Jays at the same place is a marketing strategy in itself.

The way J. Cole's grind is admirable. I truly wonder if Jay is behind the scenes making suggestions and pulling little strings here and there since Cole himself said he didn't wanna Memph Bleek himself by having Jay-Z in the forefront of everything. I gotta say, it's working out. Sure he doesn't have that Drake buzz, but ain't nothing wrong w/ the slow buzz.

diddy hasnt put out a successful rapper since shyne in 2000. he had black rob, that special delivery guy, dude named marc curry who wrote a book about the whole experience, ness, babs, chopper, and some white dude named kain i think. black rob had a kind of hit, and special delivery, loon barely pushed any units, and the rest stayed in limbo for years. but in between all that he signed and dropped several r&b acts even one that was a spice girls knock off. i dont think elec would have been better goin that route not at all
