and with as much as they blitz and how fast they get to quarterbakcs, its not like he's out there covering #1 receivers running elaborate routes. again, he's a great corner, but some things have to be considered

Revis is nice but like someone else said the Jets blitz damn near every play so its not like he's in coverage that long

People bringing up the Jet's blitzes, stop it. It's when the Jets blitz that Revis is all alone against the WR so that's not a good arguement if you think he's overrated. And sometimes the blitz doesn't even get there like we saw Monday Night.

That doesn't substitute for every time though.

The Steelers last year stayed Blitzing and hitting the QB quick and our corners got exposed with ease.

the steelers don't have great cornerbacks like revis. when the qb only has 2-3 seconds to throw the ball, it makes the cornerbacks job that much easier, but they still have to finish the play.

actually it is. if he's all alone and the receiver has already shown he's not running a slant, chances are he's running a deep route, or a comeback route. being able to eliminate what the receiver is NOT going to do is essential, and having a defense that gets after the quarterback helps determine which routes the receivers can run.

But what if the blitz doesn't get there? Cause sometimes the Jets just get hurries, not sacks. NO ONE in this league can cover a WR for more than 3-4 seconds anyway.

sure, if the blitz doesn't get there, then that IS when revis can separate himself from other corners...and that last thing you said is false, if i wasn't lazy i'd put it in the appropriate thread
