Is the Lil' Wayne fad over?

Tha Carter 3 was basically Wayne's Thriller. I'm confident in saying that he will never have anything that matches it in sales or quality, from this point forward.

But, I never imagined him falling off this hard.

No one has been talking about Rebirth. Wayne has had no top 10 singles off this album so far, and he's already on single 3. The buzz is not there like it was in '08. He lost something.

The reviews for Rebirth have been absolutely horrifying; dreadful. His score on metacritic is "38", which is TERRIBLE.

What do you guys think? Is the Wayne reign over? Do you think he can redeem himself with Tha Carter 4?

I'm confident in saying that NO ONE will ever sell the same anymore. You see that 50 just bricked and that should tell you where the industry is going. 50 sold 750K week 1 in 07 and then bricked like shit in 09 and could only do about 110K in 1 week

But its funny how yall dudes want to compare a rock/alternative album to hip hop. SMH

With regards to hip hop, then i doubt it. Everytime i turn on the radio (rarely) i'm hearing some song with him on it (Bedrock, steady mobbin, money to blow, men lie)

I don't know about fad, when I hear the word fad I think of fashion clothing and shit. If your a Wayne fan then your just a fan of his music period no fad shit. I will say his buzz has gone up though, you can't listen to the radio without hearing his ass.

This "fad" word is throwing me off....but str8 up tho, how can you really judge rather or not he fell off when you look at his "ROCK" album(Even I didnt expect too much from this experiment album)....a hip hop artist dropping a Rock album and still getting some people to buy it actually does mean something. And really, Dude released No Ceilings not too long ago and people rushed to hear it...no matter what dude drops, people rush to hear it..fans, haters, critics, new ears, dude still gets responses is considered to be one of the top artists, like it or not

Do you think this Rebirth shit is gonna hurt him, though? It's one thing for Wayne to make a "rock" album and that shit is critically acclaimed. But this project has been getting negative reviews all across the board. Each review you read seems to be doggin' the fuck outta Wayne.

To have that type of feedback is not good, especially not for someone like Wayne, who really was at the top of music these past two years.

Well did you buy Rebirth? What do you think about it?

I'm just asking if Wayne trying to cross over into other genres and it backfiring, is gonna have any damage to his rep.

Yea i bought it, It was a lil bit better than what I thought it was gonna be but with less tracks. Good for a rapper, Average for a Rock album. I listen to just about any genre and thought this album was actually pretty good once you give it a chance(meaning listen to it a couple times and think about what certain tracks actually mean)

It wont do much damage to his rep or his career...everybody knows he has that ability to turn it up when he needs to(talking about rap)

whether you like him or not lil wayne is a good artist. He has been around for well over a decade. You saying fad like he just came out a year or two ago. Lil Wayne aint going no where and he does know how to make hot songs that people like. It is what it is. I aint the biggest fan but I wont lie and say I don't bump some of his shit. Been bumping lil wayne since '99. The nigga aint going anywhere.
