Devin Hester ran back an opening kick off to a Super Bowl for a TD. if that ain't coming close to helping your team win a Super Bowl then idk wtf else a special team player is supposed to be doing.

I forgot all about that. Touche', but at the same time, where was he on that anemic ass offense that eventually cost them the game since the D couldn't keep up with Peyton? Even with Rex Grossman as QB, his speed alone could've caused some mismatches for the Colts D.

smh Dude...... what the hell are you talking about? lol

The rest of the sports world is arguing will he make it as a KR/PR...his WR stats are nothing more than gravy, and let most tell it their completely irrelevant.

the only problem i have with Hester getting in as a returner is that guys like Eric Metcalf, Dante Hall, Brian Mitchell, and Dave Megette should have gotten in before him... he holds the record now but the cats whose records he broke got no consideration which isnt fair.

Those guys are all within 1 or 2 TDs of each other...they broke records, but didnt set themselves apart.

Hester is on pace to rewrite history. HE could come close to doubling the record lmao just think about that

Like hittin 70 HRs when the previous high was 60

Like throwin 50 TDs when the previous high is 40

9/10 when records are broke they are just barely broken...when you shatter a record its rare.
  • Lets face it...he's not gonna give up on Hester, but i see he left the Briggs thing alone lol.

Dante Hall aint even close to hester. Hsster got the NFL changing kickoff rules and he still murdering teams. Its not close. He's already a HOFer

naw thats like saying qbs in the 60s who were good but didnt have 4000 yard seasons shouldnt be in the hall cuz of Manning and Marinos numbers.... those named returners should be in the hall. U can erase what they did and act like Hester is the all to be all... Hell Cribbs should get consideration if he continues at his rate.Hester is great but those guys got no consideration which isnt fair IMO... Brian Mitchell held damn near all the return records. he shoulda been in the hall.

Lol Aye, Briggs has made 6 straight pro bowls, it aint like im pullin that shyt outta left field...and i aint the only one sayin he has the creds...but i'll chill

But Hester? That shyt is clear cut

    No. lol

KR/PR is for the most part a constant...it hasnt gotten necesarily easier or harder...its constant. Its nothing like passing yards

But its almost as if youuuu didnt read my reply smh...HE COULD FEASIBLY DOUBLE THE OLD RECORD!

    1. Devin Hester 12 2006-2011 chi
    2. Eric Metcalf 10 1989-2002
    3. Brian Mitchell 9 1990-2003
    4. Rick Upchurch 8 1975-1983
    Desmond Howard 8 1992-2002
    Jack Christiansen 8 1951-1958
    7. Dave Meggett 7 1989-1998
    8. Darrien Gordon 6 1993-2002
    Dante Hall 6 2000-2008
    Billy Johnson 6 1974-1988
    Deion Sanders+ 6 1989-2005

Look at thsi list and pay attention to
    1) All eras are represented, which backs what i said above
    2) No player on here has played less than EIGHT years, with most over 10 years in the league- Hester has played 5.5 smh
    3) From #2-#20, they are seperated by a TOTAL of 4 td's LOL ...Translation= he's on pace to blow shyt out the water.

^^^Ngga thats air tight lmao What exactly can you argue against?? I rest my case.

Metcalf has 10 at the top of the list before Hester came along..... no one pushed for him to go to the hall.... lets say Hester career ended tomorrow.... with 12 and he doesnt double it. there should have been a return category in the Hall already to show those guys respect. Teams may never kick it to him again....

Briggs should make the hall of fame, look at his numbers in comparison to Derrick Brooks (who also played his entire career in the same defensive system).

Brooks has Briggs beat in total interceptions (25-12) and tackles (1,698-896).

Briggs should surpass Brooks in sacks (as of now Briggs has 10.5 to Brooks 13.5).

Brooks played for 13 years, Briggs has been in the NFL for 8.

So you just gon keep ignorin what i type, huh? Lol

Metcalf set the record, by besting it by TWO PRs...before that, each time is was rewritten it was by ONE PR...(form 6, to 7, to 8, to 10)Now, you chose to say 'if his career ended today'

Cool, now how feasible is that? On the other hand, how feasible is it that he gets---ehh---lets say 4 more PR tds before he retires...

He would have 16 PR tds while the next man has 10...

Now look at the two statements i bolded: am i making ANY sense to you here?

Please do not reply again without adressing what i JUST wrote lol

so whats is the standard for returners to make it to the hall of fame? Hesters numbers or bust? I understand ur point but ur making seem like the previous return accomplishments were do do... hester is that great and he is re-writing the return records.... but my point is that those guys deserve hall of fame recognition instead of Hester being the end and be all.

U trollin me right now bruh? smh

the record was set in 1958 at EIGHT...it stood for 40 years, without bein broken...then it was broken by ONE td, then by ONE more...to 10

Hester is on pace to move 6, 7, 8 TDs beyond it. THATS WHY HE STANDS OUT.

If u cant get that i dont know what to tell you bruh.

edit: oh yea, the fact that there's like 20 dudes w/ 5-7 PR TDs should answer why they dont stand out and are not HOFers

I get it, i get it...everybody loves to try and find an underdog or sleeper candidate on here. But this argument is ass...you argued against your own point with them numbers lmao. this would have been a better argument if Briggs was in like his 6th year with them numbers. In case you can't figure it out...Brooks has 25 ints to Briggs' 12 (basically double) and has almost twice as many tackles right. Brooks=1.93 int's per year, 130 tkls per year....Briggs 0.67 int's per year, 112 tkls per year. He's overshadowed by Urlacher for good reason....really good linebacker but not a HOF. Oh and see post # 32 for the real reason he's not a HOF, at least not yet unless he cranks out a Defensive MVP or something.
