I downloaded his mixtape "LiveLoveA$ap" the other day and it is easily one of the top 10 mixtapes of 2011. Shit has been on repeat all day. I fucks with the "Peso" & "Demons" tracks the hardest tho. Is the IC sleep on A$AP??? I'ma have to feature him on my show (check the sig) ASAP
these new lil niggas are lame to me
low key feminine dudes no matter how gangsta they claim to be
and what does asap rocky mean?? corny
if u checked his interview with allhiphop, dude will tell u that he not tryin to be G.
He's just doing him. And ASAP stands for Always Striving Always Prosper. And he pretty much said that he was influenced by both NY Hip Hop & Texas Screwed music
I was checking him last week, i can definatley get into it, i just hope he stays focused and doesnt go too hipster, i can see him doing collabs with kreayshawn and shit like that.
anyone else notice his name is simalar to Aesop Rock? Is he an influence or something?
I mean they are both from NY
no not at all nigga just to blatantly fake. but to each their own.
I think thats interesting that you say that, what makes you think that? I'm not saying you're wrong or anything. I really cant get into this dude's music/movement. I listened to the tape and I only found it aight. I thought I had to be in a certain mood to listen to it, like smoke, chill type shit but even then I probably still wouldnt enjoy it all that much. I dont see the hype.

i guess it's just the overly influence of southerner shit into his music. now i could be wrong calling the dude fake. but that's just my opinion. Nothing wrong at all being influenced by another regions music. But it seems he's just went all in. I did listen to the tape and it just really didn't do anything for me.
Let me try an example. Like if you play ball and are influenced by Jordan. I'm not going to come out on the court and try to be an exact carbon copy of Jordan. I'm not going to try a mimic exactly how he plays. But since I'm influenced by Jordan I might had his fade away to my game or just try to have his defensive intensity. but at the end of the game I'm still playing my game. the other way is me playing jordans game. and instead of me being myself I've become jordan. Now I can't find my own game
Im a NYer who would love to see new talent from here blow up. I cant fuck with Rocky. He's like a nigga who was born here but left in his early years and adopted an OT persona. I rather fuck with Vado.
never gave him a chance cause of his name BUT from watching a lil bit of that first video i think hes solid. kinda a new york rapper w a Wiz and Big sean style ?

Is it just me or does it seem like the people hypin ASAP Rocky up, or his fans, are the same people who were Wiz Khalifa fans pre Black and Yellow?
As far as my show, itz an internet radio for my college. I focus on niggaz who don't get major commercial radio play (catz like K.R.I.T., Kendrick Lamar, Phonte, etc.), and if they do get radio play, I play songs that ya local radio station doesn't play. I like puttin people on to new shit, but we're onbreak til mid-January. Not tryna hype dude up, but he's better than a lot of these new niggaz, and personally, I NEVER really got into Wiz music, and I smoke damn near everyday. I feel the poster who said you gotta be in a certain mood to listen to his music...kinda like how Lupe is, but to each his own. I think certain folks just don't like to embrace the "brand new guy"
