I'm sitting here, scratching my head at this. Did coaches and scouts just not pay attention at practices? Did he just not adapt to their systems? Or was it just plan stereotyping? I can't imagine this dude wasn't balling out of control at some practices and people didnt take notice

if your a end of the bench dude the chances u get are gonna be rare no matter how good u are and if u make one mistake or mistep youll get pulled the first chance...but yeah he got overlooked

Its the system. He has a skillset like Nash with his probbin. Just like how that like dude was killin with Dallas last year and now he is irrelevant in Minn. He was never gonna shine in Golden St. Glad he made the most out of his opportunity.

Chris Duhon had early success under D'antoni
Ray Felton played well under this system as well.

No one is saying the system makes Lin, they are just saying his success is partially due to it. It'd be moronic to say Lin has no talent, but this high-paced offense complements his game.

He was the reason they beat LA. Its cuz he gets in the lane and has a good jumper. On certain systems u can flourish on other teams like Minn who are sorry and play no defense that same player is exposed.

JJ Barea has only played in 15 games but he's averaging a career high in points and has hus usual assists

dantoni's and carlilse's systems are totally different

i aint saying lin is all world(its only been 8 games) but to compare him to jj barea is not accurate

Barea isn't that good...He thrived because, like you said he has a great ability to collapse the defense cuz he's quick getting in the paint and he's small and can maneuver through the defense easier...The difference in Dallas and Minnesota is that Dallas had a better roster and more importantly SHOOTERS that made the defense pay when he broke the defense down (that's why ..Barea is an average player that can thrive on a team with shooters to kick it to, and Minnesota is a team with good 1 on 1 players which doesn't fit Barea's game...It's already clear Lin is a much better player than Barea is even this early....The system does fit him perfectly but dude can ball...I think he'd still be effective on other teams.

For the same reason college scouts missed on him. He was an average high school player. A good player on an Ivey league school. He never really gave anyone a reason to believe. Except maybe that rookie league game where he held his own against John Wall

Easy answer: Because he's turnover prone and that's the absolute WORST thing a PG can do, turnover the ball. There's no way I would draft him on my roster. Even now.

Also, when you're not a known person or you come from a wack college, you usually have to play mistake free to get noticed. Wasn't nobody about to take a chance on a turnover prone Asian PG from Harvard lol.
