You might have a similar style to people you're around a lot but that doesn't mean they write your lyrics.

um no the style on the carter 2 and the carter 3 are completely different and it's obviou... you can't listen to those and not realize that the styles are completely different & if you do you're choosing to be biased

Well obviously they're different but I'm saying whose pen was Wayne using when he rose to prominence in that time period? Carter 3 is Wayne's worst album period from the 90's to now. I'm just making the point that realistically he has always wrote his own shit. Yall seriously think Drake writes Wayne's shit because their flows are similar on some songs. But lyrically you can tell they're different. Just like Wayne and Gillie were. Wayne showed hella talent on SQ tapes before Gillie was even around. So maybe he expanded his flow based on Gillie's style during Carter 1 but he didn't actually write for him.

If you think someone was writing for Wayne just because you think he fell of then someone must have been writing for Jay-Z too...

For someone who is quite musically inclined in the genre of jazz, should know that wayne's cadence, rhyme structure and breathe control is totally different for every album. An unique artist has their own signature sound. i.e. DMX. Wayne sound came from BG writing for him since he was young. Check out the cadence of BG and his influence on wayne's cadence. Plus, for every ghost writer Wayne takes a piece of their flow and construct it to the sound that we currently hear. that is why we as people who lives/love hip hop because he is not authentic as an artist.

To be honest, I really liked, A Milli, was it because of the lyrical content... HELLS NO. it was purely for the productions. For Wayne his productions saves his lyrical content. You can be a dope fucking lyricist or rapper and have wack ass productions. Word to NAS.

For reference, based on the gillie the kid drama, you can tell a writer's ability to convey their message to the masses by their unique voice, whether it may be by vocal or instrument, gillie had a sound that Wayne never presented until Gillie started writing for him. A writer's penmanship is their fingerprint in literature, music, art, and etc. Wayne could never repeat the same penmanship that Gillie has guided him to use currently. Hence, why we now currently hear references of Drake's rhyme scheme and flow in Wayne's current music today.

Wayne is not an evolving artist like he wants people to believe, he is currently taking a page from Nickki's book and wearing outrageous clothing to camouflage his lyrical ability that he does not have, unless he has help from another artist that is more talented that he is.

Prime example, TI is an evolving artist of hip hop. Wether you like him or not, his sound is constistent and fresh. We as listeners know that it is TI on the mic, not Gillie, BG, or Drake.

Carter 1 and 2 are seriously so similar it's sick. He might have a gag order on not speaking about writing carter 2 because it is wayne's most acclaimed album (mainstream wise).

doesnt matter if he was fucking with them or not. He couldve written albums of music for wayne and it was not released to the public, then placed on the next album. A lot of artist do this. Write material sit on it and release it on the next album.

i see what your getting at. i believe gillie had his hand in the carter 1 but not the whole thing. i don't believe he wrote the carter 2. and you can't go by rhyme cadence only. some rappers have many different rhyme cadences(nas, common, jay, big, etc)

Gillie never said he "wrote" a damn thing, Gillie said he coached lil wayne about breathe technique, wordplay, and other things prior/around carter 1 ........

i'm not even sure if Gillie was still around during C2, but yea he coached wayne on the technical side of rapping wayne already had the charisma and influence ....

we discussed this topic on this same forum back in 07 when gillie was on his campaign, where were all of u then ?

I didnt specifically speak on candence alone. I also spoke about rhyme scheme, lyrical placement, breathe control (where he lays his rest. I.e. where he takes a breathe then starts the rhyme), and the frequency of the words he would use.

True other rappers do have different cadences, however, you can still tell it is the artist that is speaking.

You can read an epic poem like Beowulf and Paradise Lost, and you can tell by the structure that it is not the same writer. However, if we have writers that collab like the writers in the new testaments you can tell they are telling the same story but in different ways.

yeah he does that drake style of rhyme lately. but rappers do rub off on each other when they work together a lot. Nas and AZ have rhymes where it sounds like the other one could have wrote it. g-rap and pun, jay and big, em and royce, etc.
