What's worse Hockey or Soccer?

I'm just curious what the Cheap Seats think... I'm not a fan of either sport but I've tried to give both a look but neither one of the sports does it for. Maybe it's my lack of knowledge or just because I can't identify with the respective sports... But trust I've watched some golf and although I can't identify I still find it more interesting than hockey or soccer

Which sport is worse? And why do you believe it's your least favorite?

soccer is the greatest sport in the world, easily the most skillful sport. You watch a club like Real Madrid, Barcelona or a country like Brazil play then you will get how beautiful the sport is. It's like poetry in motion when you see a great soccer player at his peak (Ronaldo, Zidane, Ronaldinho,etc).

I think the only reason why so many Americans aren't up on soccer (even though it's catching on now), is because we suck at it.

I was thinking the same things too... But us Americans are star driven and it's all about celebrity do you think it has something to do with us not being able to connect with the stars of the game?

I has more to do with us sucking at soccer, but the sport is rapidly growing in the country. Just look at the interest the Mexico vs U.S. draws, even when we have international friendlies with clubs like Barcelona or countries like England we sell out and pull in ratings.

The way the world is going right now where everything is worldwide, the internet, the ability to watch European soccer,etc it's only a matter of time we will become good at it (similar to basketball internationally). That's when younger kids will stick to soccer going into high school and that's when you will get stars.

Either that or the rest of the world is up on soccer because its cheap and simple. What I mean by simple is its a pretty easy game to learn. I get interested wen the world cup comes around but even then I have a hard time sitting through a whole game, give me hockey, not going to say im a bandwagon fan but bruins got some young talent thats cool to watch and I got into them a little bit during the nba lockout when I was doing a lot of sitting on my couch because of a knee operation, I had to get into something.

soccer is the most intense/interesting sport to watch. you just need to be invested a bit. (have a favorite/hometown team, or country)

soccer >>>> football

anyway. hockey kinda sucks. the reason for me is because half the time it looks like amateurs playing, even in NHL games. its a loose puck 80% of the time, with guys randomly chasing it down, throwing it down the ice, etc. it just doesnt look professional, or like any one team has mastered it.

Cosign. The only time I watch is Champion league play and World cup. MLS is okay but the Portland Seattle series are much watch TV right now.

Football's easy to get into...All ya need is a team to follow...Plus, you've got ya national team...There are so many different competitions...The domestic league...2 domestic cups...European competition...World Cup...Euros...Then the American Continental tournaments...

a like both sports. hockey in the olympics is way better than NHL hockey. olympic hockey doesnt have all the checking and holding. Its just open ice and passing and you really see the skill of the hockey players

Problem with a lot of Americans that don't like football (soccer) is that most of you only tune in to the World Cup, and any true football fan will tell you that WC is dead and boring compared to league action. Playing for your country is all about pride, but the best players won't give their all and risk injury when they know they are more devoted to their club that pays them six figures per week (some make over a million per month in salary alone minus endorsements - which in some cases is more than their salary).

While soccer is global I feel like hockey is better. I moved out the hood to the burbs at age 5 and played both sports pick up. The town i grew up in was big on both hockey and soccer. I quit soccer after a year and by age 7 was playing ice hockey. From a playing perspective hockey to me was more fun. Each person on the ice or on the street (in pick up street hockey) has a purpose. Where in soccer your got 11 players on a big ass field and your importance it not as key. Every play in hockey all 5 players and goalies are crucal.

But in soccer from a playing perspective the defense hardly are worked into offense and same with offensive attackers being crucal for defense. But i liked how hockey like my first love basketball allowed all 5 skaters to play both offense and defense in huge factors.I was fortunate both my parents got good jobs to get me out the hood and allow me to play this expensive sport. But i bet you if the financial costs of hockey never existed more people would be into playing it and see from a playing perspective its more fun.
