Racist rant that got a Chicago bartender fired

An upscale Chicago nightclub is under fire after one of its bartenders allegedly took to Facebook to post a racist rant about black patrons -- then told off her boss who asked her to remove the offensive diatribe


According to the nightlife blog 312 Dining Diva, Jessica Elizabeth referred to black people as 'n******' and 'apes' who make everything 'dirty ignorant.' Friends chimed in, praising Elizabeth for her opinions and called the African-American clientele at the club 'porch monkeys.'
Now, the owner of the club, Proof, has apologized and said he fired Elizabeth over her Facebook post.
Audarshia Townsend, a Chicago nightlife reporter who founded the 312 Dining Diva blog, said a friend who is Facebook friends with Elizabeth spotted the online rant and took screen shots.
The friend was disgusted by what she saw and passed the screenshots to Townsend, she said.
Townsend says the Facebook post might have been visible to Elizabeth's friends only and not available the public. By the time Townsend checked out the bartender's Facebook page, she couldn't see the post.


The offending Facebook exchange begins with Elizabeth allegedly saying, 'wow so insane how one race of people can be so f****** incompetent and disgusting.'
She continues: 'send them somewhere i don't care where. they make everything dirty ignorant and can't act like normal human beings.'
One friend, Ryan Daniel, chimes in with: 'Porch Monkey's?'


Elizabeth adds: 'YES f****** n*******.'
Later, she says: 'I just about dropped one on her f****** nasty face and huge nose. they really are apes and must not be fully developed.'
She also adds: 'should be entitled to NOTHING theyre f****** animals.'
As the conversation continues, a Facebook user Zoë ProofChicago says: 'Hey hitler, this is a violation of your social media contract. Please remove it ASAP.'
To this, Elizabeth replies: 'r u joking? I have a life outside of the club.'
After Townsend, the blogger, went public with her report of the Facebook posts, Elizabeth was fired, she says.
The club's owner Mike Bloem, told Townsend in a statement: 'Proof would like to confirm its belief in equality, fairness and tolerance to all our friends and partners. Sadly, on occasion, we are all exposed to ignorance and racism.'
