I haven't listened to O.D. in it's entirety but I listened to Section.80 from beginning to end and his songs are purposeful and there are meaningful lines behind his flow. You can't listen to an older album and count it against his newer material because he's obviously still growing as an artist/lyricist/rapper.

Putting Kendrick Lamar in the same category as OFWGKTA is like putting a young Shaq in the same category as the 2011-2012 Clippers. They're good at appeasing their fan base but he's a legend in the making.

The Lupe Fiasco way you talked about had less to do with the rapper and more to do with industry and label politics. I'm not saying it was unavoidable, but he's not completely to blame for that. There's no telling what will happen to Lamar because although he's on Aftermath, it's still Interscope... that's a glass half empty/glass half full type deal.

The first track I ever heard from the kid was Rigamortus and that's all the proof anyone should need as far as what Lamar is capable of.

And niggas act the way they do about Lamar and Jay Elec because they don't make excuses about their intelligence, beliefs, or priorities AND they are solid lyricists who don't dumb down or turn rappityrap (Joell Ortiz, Cory Gunz).

We want to see Kendrick Lamar, Jay Electronica, and Big K.R.I.T succede because it means hope ain't lost for the culture. J. Cole's success is cool but those guys are a step up.

You couldn't walk through the Nickerson Gardens. I have been down there and it is not a place to joke about. You wouldn't survive wearing blue down there unless you had a pass. You can't walk into their projects and make it out unless you have a pass. I have been all through Hoover and I know a couple of those dudes. You would get the breaks beaten off you. Compton is real quiet at times and random guns hots the rest of the time. Yea, Ab-Soul is from Carson, but grew up with those EC 190's and EC Crip may be the biggest unit outside of the Neighborhood Crips in terms of that umbrella.
