Yessirb he was a referee.

The Rock's dad, I forget who his partner was but I know the Rock's Dad was one half of that tag team. He was also the first black Canadian to do so too.

If it's NWA, I think it's Ron "The Truth" Killings aka R. Truth. He won that title from Ken Shamrock in TNA, when TNA was using the NWA belt as their main title.

Ron Simmons was the first black WCW World Heavyweight Champion.

I didn't look it up, and I could be wrong.
