Down south beats have no soul? Lol, u must never heard of Organized Noize. Sampling needs to be cheaper and live instrumentation needs to go up. And also this whole "I wanna a beat that sounds like ____" is not a new thing

I got a question for ya niggas that look down on sampling....Ya know that sampling was something revolutionary and it´s practice is so new meaning young. Why give it up so quickly if it touches so many people.I don´t see it as a cruch nor something negative. It´s something new.A new way to make music.A new way to rearrange musical notes. It´s something new.

As I said it has it's lane. It a part of the culture. Part of the art. Another way of expression. I'm not saying we should ever deny it. Or completely stop using it. Hell, some songs need to be sampled. Reggae music be having some of the coolest intro's and breakdowns. But the shit is only a small portion of the song. It be epic when your favorite rapper picks that one part of that one song you could listen too over and over.

But we need to be getting at composing our own shit as well. Keep being revolutionary and expanding more. Music is to powerful a force for rap to be limited by itself. It's also a part of our culture, but it's not getting the shine it deserves. Bottom line, with out musicians there'd be nothing for us to sample.

I'm fairly certain that if some artist were to stop just looping 5 seconds of Al Green for a change, they'd grow artistically. Learn music theory. Song Structure. Note Progression. Just basic shit beyond rhyming for 16, repeating hihats, and bumping bass. Your least favorite rapper with your least favorite producer would become decent at least.

But also why limit rap to robbing the dead of their creative works? Why put the genre in a box? Why allow your album to be delayed for sample clearance? Why pay so much for sample clearance? Why throw an awesome song away, because you couldn't get sample clearance? Why not have the artist you're trying to sample actually sit and record some original shit for you? Why not learn some shit so you ain't gotta wait on clearance, pay for clearance, or get somebody else to make your song?

SMH at all this typing. But damn, music is my shit.

    how is sampling limited
  • Sampling is not limited. Its only limited when you have a limited producer. ANd NO Organized Noise isnt a part of the Down South Bullshit. ON makes hot classic shit. Prime Example.

Go into your Cd collections people, and dig out the OUTKAST ATLiens. Listen to : Mainstream ( with Goodie Mob )
Hot beat. Thought provoking Lyrics. A regional sound. Finished hot product. Why you 3k aint rhymin on NO
south shit, cause even HE knows shit is nigger garbage.

Why was 3K on this nigger garbage?

The lyrics itself are thought provoking, but...

I think Just Blaze did it RIGHT with Lord Knows. I thought it was a sample but when I learned that he had an actual choir come in that made me respect his craft even more.
