on another note ...Def Jam actually did a really good piece of promotion by setting up the release of this big track on the same day they had nas all over one of the biggest televised events in the country (the nfl draft) great cross promotion great marketing ..good look
I don't get people man. Ya'll complain that rappers don't have any bars and just have good production, then when Nas comes out and spits some dope shit (like he always does) ya'll complain that the beats aren't super dope. Nas has NEVER been the dude who uses beats that overpower his lyrics or are from the flavor of the month/year producer. Nasty, The Don, and Daughters are all fire songs with nice bars. I wasn't a huge fan of BGL2, to me nothing can outdo the first one.
Nas been putting dope music for 20yrs and people STILL think he just has a bad ear for beats. No simpleton, he chooses the beats he wants that fit the bars/song/concept. Come on man. I'm not trying to hear Nas over no fucking trap house or super heavy bass type beats just so the average fan (who doesn't listen to lyrics anyways) can be placated.
Bruh u gotta learn to ignore these dummies. If you know Nas's music then already know the deal. The others will be looking for other shit to try to make him "cool" which hasnt been his motive since Nastradamus. More then likely these cats are either young'ins, southerner's or just newbies to rap. No offense to any of those just my strong opinion.
No matter what, nas stans will say it is a classic as they always do....
Remember hhid? Untilted? DR?
Ok we know the deal... The Don is not good and nasty is average, they are just hyped on internet. Their lyrics are not different of what rappers say out there.
But hey...it is nas...if geeks don't hype him who will?

Southerners???? D#mn Icecold U were living up to ur name on dat 1. I'm born & raised N da dirty & I actually believe Nas has more diehard fans N da south than up north. Dis ain't da '80's yo,pls don't try to run with stereotypes of southerners being slow & ish when N fact there R dummies up north as well down south. Ignorance isn't territorial
So I sent a tweet to Carmen saying bitch you werent thinking bout ur daughter when u were writing books about fucking AI and Jay Z and them...awaiting reply in order to troll
Carmen Bryan says Nas defamed their 17-year-old daughter, Destiny, on his latest single…
Nas’ recently-released “Daughters” track might be a hit with listeners, but the Queensbridge rapper’s ex girlfriend isn’t too happy with it. Carmen Bryan, the mother of Nasty’s 17-year-old daughter Destiny, who Nas references throughout the song, took to Twitter to express her displeasure with the track.
“Just heard “Daughters” by Nas. What a disappointment! He had nothing positive to say about our daughter and his depiction of her is false!” she wrote. “Perhaps her father should be talking to her and spending more time with her so he can really get to know her…Destiny will be 18 in 2 months. Over it!”
When asked by her followers what made her so mad, Bryan responded by posing her own question: “Ques? do u really think Destiny appreciated that song? Seriously…..Destiny is still a child-it was the wrong platform,” she said. “…he’s not speaking on it-he’s rapping about it. There’s a huge difference and I don’t respect it. Destiny is extremely talented, caring and has a huge heart, none of those things were mentioned. I’m proud of her.”
On the song, Nas raps about his daughter writing letters to a man in jail and posting pictures of a box of condoms on a social networking site, blaming himself for some of her risqué behavior for not being more strict.
Nas recently sat down with XXLMag.com to discuss the track, saying about his teen daughter, “She’s so important to me and she always has been. They grow so fast and time flies man. Before you know it, you’re looking at a little lady.
“She’s my first kid, my first time watching a child become a teen and a little adult before my eyes,” he continued. “That’s one of the most important things in my life: she is. I can’t get away from talking about it. It’s actually one of the first songs I recorded for this album.”
“Daughters” is Nas’ latest single from his upcoming LP, Life Is Good, slated to drop July 17.
“Yeah man, I guess we’re starting to give you the next chapter,” Nas explained about the album. “It’s like a story in a way. We’re about to give you the next records and give the people the album. That’s just opening up the album to people, it’s go time. We started, ‘Nasty’ been out there for a long time. Then ‘The Don’ that video should drop this week. Then, we open. The book is open. The movie begins. So ‘Daughters’ is like welcome to my world.” —Mariel Concepcion (@Mceezy)
You gonna tell the man who worked hard to provide a very comfortable living for HIS daughter he can't write about her? I'm pretty sure she's more embarrassed by the fact that her mother publicly admitted to being a slut. Ever thought about that? How did you ever provide for your daughter on your own Miss Bryan? Did Jay-Z leave a few dollars next to the dresser after he thraxed that ass? Perhaps you should have set a better example for your daughter instead of sucking the sweat off of Allen Iverson's nuts after crucial games
Tell Carmen to suck a dick.... Oh Wait. She just want some damn attention so she can write another book. She should be happy Nas acknowledged he can be a better father and their daughter defamed herself with that picture of Condoms on her dresser.
