that always been oregon problem. they got athletes but no serious defensive coaches.

you can finally see the effect monte kiffin had on our defense, because year before last the defense was trash and the beginning of this season even was shaky but they got far better as they went along. thats coaching. oregon philosophy is 'the best defense = overwhelming offense' but if you got the athletes to run with them niggas they can be shut down, like LSU, auburn and USC did (for 3 quarters at least)

From 1960-1970 300 players were drafted from hbcu schools.I m wondering will the hbcu schools ever be close to what it was then now.....i bleed burnt orange ..but i hate how they did my man bubba smith and other southern blks tryna get on the squad...which coach royal had no problem with.

Three of my high schools coaches played for Grambling in the 70s. they said they used to have player come there cause they knew they were going to get drafted or at the least get invited to camp. Eddie Robinson was the Nick Saban of HBCUs back in the day. Total opposite now.

The Iowa Hawkeyes are going into combat -- Pro Combat, that is. Nike has announced that the company will be producing a version of the hyper-stylized uniforms in connection with the Iowa's "America Needs Farmers" game against Penn State on October 20th.

"When you think of Iowa, you think of farmers," said Nike head designer Christopher Polyblend. "So our challenge was to combine the vaguely futuristic, Tron Legacy-esque look of the Pro Combat brand with the traditional agricultural values of a state where, as I understand it, 99% of the residents spend their days covered in hog shit."

"We think we pretty much nailed it."
