@ptowndonte if you wanna get technical then the fact that yall rapping and considering where rap started....
Really? Rap started in New York? Can you prove it? Cause I can go back to the 1920's and 1930's when dudes was rapping down South. Hip-Hop may have started in New York, but ya'll damn sure didn't start the 'rapping' part of it. Or the 'breaking' part of it. Ya'll can have the rest of that shit.
lol show me this proof of rapping starting in the 1920's and 30's in the south
Cole gets flack for his NY-influence, but I don't know why...
"Label me greedy, but see me finish what Petey started...the South nigga, them niggas used to think we retarded"-Get It.
"Some New York niggas thought it was funny callin' us bamma/
laughin' at the grammar cause they didn't understand us/
must've thought they slow, but little do they know/
I came up in here to take advantage of that shit you take for granted"-Sideline Story.
i guess people like to feel like they can identify with the artist. just like there were ny folks not liking asap rocky. But some southern cats fucked with him.

Don't speak about the Dirty South
My crew ain't bout no jokes
I know some people don't like the way we flow
Because they envy
They talking bout they fucked my hoes
And that they could have been me
IDK how this fits in but since niggas are dropping random quotes:
Southern niggaz, independent label, real killers
Know the business, ran Tennessee for years, now they chillinThey had the coke game somethin crazy
Sold music out the trunk of they car, that shit amazed me
Put me onto heron blunts, sherm or somethin
Took a puff, what the fuck, I turned to punch them Southern niggaz ain't slow, nigga tried to play me
I left from around them dudes, they cool but they crazy
@KingJamal so what's gonna happen if i ask one gang if Texas if they have Cali influences what they gonna kill me? Lol When I hear Texans speak (not rap) I hear Cali mainly in their ER's
I think these days people dont have it as bad as they use to, so regions and economics are such harsh dividers as they use to be. Now you got stationary kids growing up like military brats, with just so much exposure to everything its hard to gain an identity that is so set in stone.
Younger people these days have less pride in identity, so i think both are pretty equal. That being said, a Southern MC sounding like a East Coast rapper usually makes better music

LOL the act of rapping been around to an extent, but was never packaged as a form of music
What we know as HIP HOP came from The Bronx. It started w/ urban youth trying to end gang culture in NY
Came from DJ's who would let ppl rap to promote the DJ.Hip Hop as we know it w/ 2 turntables and a mic is certainly from NY
Andre was Q Tip the abtract, weird, special voice dude and Big Boi is Phife the underrated, more everyday guy. They experiment w/ soul and funk how tribe did Jazz.
Andre even admitted they were on some Tribe shit in an interview
NY been usin the south's wave to get on lately, ie French, Nicki, and ASAP. Even Maino tried to link up wit TI for a minute. Shit, I'd rather that than the NY vs the South bullshit that's been goin on though.
Southern Rap - Cali influenced I been around long enough to hear the south come into fruition.
Rodney O & Joe Cooley - Compton rapper & DJ credited with being the influence over the Miami Bass sound
Let go of the pride, time to embrace some truths. If you haven't came up with 80's rap then I can understand why you would disagree.
You just don't know any better considering the era you was growing up in and the year you purchased your first rap cd. (Some of you are Ipod generation and never heard audio CD of any sort...lol)
