I have always wondered what the meaning of I Shot Ya was. Was he taking sides in the Eastcoast - Westcoast beef? Was he talking to anyone in particular in that song? Was it a reply to Who Shot Ya? Does anyone know LL's place in the beef and if this song was a war cry for him?

"Who Shot Ya" was aimed at LL. LL responded with "I Shot Ya". 2pac thought both songs were about him.

They talked about it in that book that VIBE put out called Unbelievable: The Life, Death, and Afterlife of the Notorious B.I.G.

LL was supposed to record a verse for that song that Biggie and Keith Murray did for Mary J Blige's album (which later became Who Shot Ya minus Keith Murray). During the session, LL and BIG has some kinda of disagreement, then following year, Bad Boy released the song with two Biggie verses, apparently takin subliminal shots at LL.
