How quick are you to end a friendship..?

Cuz I find that people are quick to disappoint me and Ill cut niggas off in a heartbeat.

For example, my roommate is currently chilling with a friend of his that not too long ago, stayed with us for a month. Mind you, this nigga was only supposed to stay for two weeks, never informed us of how long this extended stay was going to last, never offered any money toward bills or groceries, sat around all day, and if what my roommate told me was correct, NEVER said thank you or expressed an outpouring of gratitude for us letting him stay.

Now for me, That would be the end of me and him being cool. Period. I cannot stand moochers and ungrateful people who are trying to get over on you and thats what it seemed like he was trying to do. Yet here my roomie is laughing with him and everything, assumingly holding no ill will toward the guy. (I personally think my roomie can be far too friendly with people and IMO doesnt know how to keep himself entertained on weekends plus he's Puerto Rican and at his core believes in that "brotherhood" with other Latinos even though he'd never admit it)

So I ask myself, do I hold people to too high of a standard? The question is even more relevant because i'm currently a bit frustrated with (and actively ignoring/avoiding) one of my friends for running his mouth to a chick about something I told him in confidence. Trust and the ability to confide in your friends is a big part of my world, you understand.

Am I too harsh? how valuable are friendships really? Are they worth salvaging when a friend violates a core tenet of your personal code of friendship?
