LAS VEGAS – Timothy Bradley and Manny Pacquiao put on an outstanding show, but it was the judges who will be the big story for the next week or so.

Pacquiao landed 94 more punches than Bradley according to CompuBox, but it was not enough as the judges stunningly awarded a split-decision win to Bradley, who lifted the World Boxing Organization welterweight title from Pacquiao with the victory.

"I thought I won the fight," said Bradley, who said he hurt his ankle in the second round. "I didn't think he was as good as everybody says he is. I didn't feel a lot of his power." Timothy Bradley celebrates his controversial win over Manny Pacquiao. (Getty Images)

It was an excellent back-and-forth bout, but Pacquiao seemed to control it by landing more, landing at a higher percentage and landing the harder punches.

Judges C.J. Ross and Duane Ford had it for Bradley, 115-113. Jerry Roth had it for Pacquiao, 115-113. Bradley won the final round on all three cards which pulled out the bout for him.

Pacquiao was shocked by the verdict.

"I do my best and I guess my best wasn't good enough," Pacquiao said. "I've been watching the tapes of his fights. Tonight, he never hurt me. Most of his punches hit my arms. I don't know what happened [with the scoring]. I have no problem. I'll be ready for the rematch. No doubt "

It was a stunning end to a more than seven-year winning streak for Pacquiao, who entered the bout ranked No. 2 in the Yahoo! Sports world rankings.

"Can you believe that?" promoter Bob Arum said. "I had it 10-2! After I got into the ring after the fight, I went over to Bradley and said 'You did very well.' He said, 'I tried hard, but I couldn't beat the guy.' This is crazy. You talk about killing boxing? All three scorecards you throw out."

Dreams of a megafight against No. 1 Floyd Mayweather Jr. may have gone up in smoke with the pens of judges who saw a different fight than the fans in the building and most media at ringside.

Yahoo! Sports scored it 117-111 for Pacquiao, the same margin as Tim Dahlberg of the Associated Press and Steve Carp of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Dan Rafael of ESPN had it 118-110 for Pacquiao. HBO's Harold Lederman had it 119-109, or 11 rounds to one, for Pacquiao.

"This is a death knell for boxing, and I'm[u/] going to make a ton of money on the rematch," Arum said.[u/]

Pacquiao landed 253 of 751 punches, a connect rate of 34 percent. Bradley landed 159 of 839, a connect rate of just 19 percent. On top of that, Pacquiao seemed to land the more powerful shots.

[Related: Yahoo! Sports crew reacts to stunning decision]

It was an action-paced battle fought at a furious pace for much of the event. Pacquiao showed little respect for Bradley's power and waded in with impunity, ripping straight left hands and hooks.

"He's a beast," Bradley said, while admitting Pacquiao hurt him several times with the left.

Bradley landed clean shots, but wasn't able to back Pacquiao up.

Pacquiao said he respected the decision, but felt he won the fight.

From the look on Bradley's face at the end of the bout, it appeared he felt the same way

just for you since your such a dumbass watch from 24secs to 1:06 its floyd predicting that this would happen.

also since your a fan of boxing and not a floyd hater or a pactard why all of the sudden when mayweather ask for him to take the test and he finally agrees years later his work rate has dropped so much, he went from throwing 100 punchs a round to barely any. what you going to say hes gotten older that would be a valid excuse and still is my only thing is you dont agree to the test when your throwing 1200 punches but now your going to agree to and ironically your only throwing 750 punchs now.

pacman should have dropped arum like floyd said years ago because like floyd said arum does not have his fighters best interest at heart ever...he said, oscar said... clearly manny is dumb as shit. everytime a boxer of his elite level wants a huge payday arum doesnt want to pay hes a cheap jew. oscar left him for bigger paydays and so did floyd and cotto and all it did was make them even bigger stars. at this point in my career if i was manny i would buy out of my contract with the money i just got from the bradley fight and take floyds 40 million dollar offer, but going into talks i would realize that my stock as drop since i got robbed a loss is a loss so I'm probably not getting 40 million.

Arum not contesting that robbery speaks volumes in itself

1st thing i'll like to say u welcome marquez word to karma 2nd my boy rigondeaux is no joke 3rd piss mike jones couldn't hold on for the win

....alright i may be reaching but i think arum/pac had this thing fixed so pac can rematch bradley nov 10 pretty much around the time floyd would be ready to fight pacman to avoid the floyd fight. pac arleady said he just a few more fights b4 he retires he got 1 out the way now he'll rematch bradley avoid floyd and fight canelo and call it quits

Bob just tryna keep the money in his circle having a rematch since both are under his company
  • dwade206dwade206 Posts: 7,830 ✭✭✭✭✭
Nope. Bradley was the aggressor the WHOLE ENTIRE right. Bradley CLEARLY won the first 2, Pac took the middle rounds (1 of which was extremely close and I would give to Bradley since he was the aggressor), Bradley finished off strong winning the last 4.

Pac did it to himself tbh. He didn't start punching until a whole minute had passed in each round, and he took the last few rounds off.

In sum, he lost fair and square bruh.

...and I'm guessing you were watching this fight blindfolded

Rigondeaux is the man, honestly in my opinion I'll get some shade for this but anyone who thinks Donaire can beat Rig should never speak about boxing again. Donaire is fun to watch but he is like manny 1 dimensional and he lacks some basic fundementals.

    fights that matter
    money vs pacman
    money vs bradley
    rig vs donaire
    ward vs froch rematch
ward vs dirrell(wont happen because there friends)
The K bros need to fight each other then call it quits the hw division is trash awful to keep fighting the level of opposition there fighting just tarnishes there legacy
    bradley vs khan
    khan vs money
    khan vs pacman
    jmm vs khan
    jmm vs pacman
    broner vs gamboa
    martinez vs chavez jr
    martinez vs money
    martinez vs ward
    ward vs dawson
    dawson vs dirrell
i just listed off some fights that would be worth the money and others that would just be interesting to watch since styles make fights. i feel like khan is overrated right now and needs to be put in his place hes a solid fighter dont get me wrong but he talks to much for me and he hasnt proved shit you cant ask for a fight against floyd when you aint really done shit yet.

oh shit i forget about my boy vicious victor ortiz vs khan they fought once in the amuteurs khan won a decision, ortiz is alot better now i feel he wil bully khan all night to be and strong

khan vs judah (this would be the fight to watch and has FOTY all over it.(judah had the potential to be at manny and floyds level but hes so weak minded an gives up so easy
    judah vs ortiz
    cotto vs ortiz at 147-150
    cotto vs martinez
    canelo vs money
    canelo vs martinez
    canelo vs kirkland
    kirkland vs cotto
canelo vs cotto FOTY all of it also ( cotto should step in and face canelo since kirkland wont do it)
as you can see from the list mannys options are really limited a smart man at the end of his career would fight money but hes going to fight JMM or bradley. If manny fights anyone else hes over matched there either two green or dont have the skills set yet to give a interesting fight

So Pacquiao isnt a good boxer now? LOL I done heard it all, get Floyds nuts out of your mouth before you type some shit like that, Floyd is the best but Manny didnt get into the position hes in by being a bad boxer lol, this dude started his career at 106 he has no business dominating the division hes in the way he has been, and yall want to talk about level of competition? The only washed up boxers he faced was De La Hoya and Mosley and both were good enough to still be considered top competition, he just made it look easy so yall throw the word "washed up" around, the only dude that could really get at him was JMM, and maybe if Clottey thrown more punches he could of put up a better fight, but i'm tired of hearing the excuses yall come up with to try and big up Floyd, no ones saying hes better than Floyd, and if they are there fucking idiots who dont deserve a respone, but give the man his due and quit your faggot ass dickriding and hating.

Can you read nigga? He isn't a good boxer, thats what I said. Where the fuck I mentioned Floyd nigga? But I'm a dickrider? Who the fuck has Manny fought that deemed him the best in his division? Who nigga? Fuck all that rah rah you talking about nigga...tell me who was the competition???? Then you said Sugar? Nigga please. Nigga is fighing undercards...fuck is you talking about? Been done. Oscar? Dude was done and over hyped even in his prime nigga. Do you know anything about the fight game nigga? Cause for real, you don't know shit. I'm looking at Manny's fight records and I'm trying to find someone to help your stupid ass argument to say, yea this nigga might be right, but who has he fought nigga?????? WHO???

Nigga I said nothing about Floyd but like any Pac shaft buffer, you automatically got that man's name flying out ya mouth. Pac isn't a good boxer, period. Nigga got no defense, hand speed is minimal and dude is not that fast. You just hopping on the bandwagon slow, knowing only about a couple of fights of Pac and now he's the greatest boxer. Nigga shut yo ass up.

Extreme no-sign. Manny hands are lightning quick bro, regardless of his boxing skills you can't take that from him. Manny is now at welterweight a far better technical boxer than he was at the lower weight divisions; which is also why he looks more vulnerable now. Manny did better as a puncher/brawler than trying to be a technical boxer. I remember Pacquiao at the lower weight divisions whooping everyone's ass. Only reason why he moved up to this weight division to fight 'Floyd's leftovers' as you say is because Manny was in the same position Floyd is in now: There was absolutely no one left for him to fight at those weights, he dominated EVERYONE with the exception of JMM(1st fight Manny won, second fight was a draw, and third fight JMM won).

I'm a huge Pacman fan aint gonna lie, but in case you ask because it always seems to come up, NO I honestly do not think he can beat Mayweather, unless he can luck up score a good hit and knock him out.

floyd is by far the faster of the 2 but yeah chemix i cant cosign mannys speed is what makes him such a hard swarmer to beat for many. Its the speed that throws people off, damn near every fighter has faced said the same thing he hits relatively hard and his speed is incredible but he wont beat floyd all 5 of there mutual partners have said this

im happy it happened... Manny got 2 questionable decisions vs JMM and outside of hardcore fans no one cared.... Manny had 40 mil guaranteed from Floyd and didnt take it cuz his promoter said no. Manny has got all religious and I think he was going ti leave Top Rank soon..... Arum cashed him out for a trilogy to rape his pockets and then build up BRADLEY as his new big fighter.... and further pushing back a Floyd fight
