i think some of us in this thread are talking about 2 different situations.

1. dude was in a relationship with a broad. she got pregnant. relationship ended. he bounced on her and the kid.

2. FWBs have kid. cat never really wanted the broad and dont want to kid either.

frankly i see #2 being the reason for most dead beat dad syndromes. not saying its right. but any offspring from a scenario like that is doomed to have little to no relationship with its pops.

Since you asked...... my brothers kids are 11 and 8.
That is only 1 month of support for him. He witheld the check because she has denied him
seeing his sons for over a year.
When he finally got to see them, (us too, cuz she has not let anyone in the family see them for this amount of time, and she only relented cuz he was leaving for Afghanistan), they looked extremely skinny.
We wont even talk about the fuckery the courts do to dads. Serioulsy, we wont.

the way i see it, is that eventually when the kid grows up and starts to put 2 and 2 together, they'll see who was the one really fucking up. as long as the father does the right thing in his time, then that kid will one day see that he was nothing how the mother described and the she was just a trifling bitch. but most fathers don't really have the patience (and i can't blame them) for letting that situation play out. they want to fight it, fight her but do it their own way, not go through the legal process. and they end up fuckin themselves worse in the process
