The appeal of French Montana, what is it?

I just saw his video for his single, the one that samples Luke. What the fuck is the appeal of this nigga, extremely average as a rapper and artist and i do stress average. To make things worst, he is one of them NY niggas who tries to make southern sounding raps like that other average nigga Asap Rocky.

It's like every year, hiphop hypes up one of these average rap niggas who is all style no substance. Like Gucci Mane, he was hyped up a few years ago.

A street dude that makes music for the streets, slick little street poems, catchy hooks, different flows...that's the appeal.

With French Montana you get the music and the movements, everybody got familiar with French when the Cocaine City bootlegs was real hot in the Hood and then him and Max B got the Wave movement poppin and it became a bigger movement.

He been shot in the head, his partner Max B got 75 years in prison and he's still hustling and keeping his dream alive.

Max B fans gonna ride for French, streets gonna ride for French and other Hustlers in the game gonna ride for French because of his grind and his cult-following. So the appeal is

I don't ask what the appeal is in Mac Miller, BoB Dylan or Ozzy, I just recognize that people have different taste in entertainment.

I never said he was a superb rapper, he's just a likable NY rapper that was connected to two major underground movements and got a nice following and fans.

The streets like to root for the underdogs, James Brown, George Clinton, & Jimi Hendrix were terrible singers but they connected with the people in other ways to compensate for their shortcomings as singers, French Montana does the same but as a rapper.

French is that nyc rapper right now. The symbiosis of a sad excuse for singing and a 1st grade reading level hook on stay schemin was, excuse my french, dope as fuck. As much as you might of though it was annoying it is impossible not to hum and mumble and random times during the day. When french hit the summer jam stage looking like Osama Bin Laden's 7th son born of his 4th wife it was one of the best moments in New York Hip Hop. His upcoming album had so much buzz the record companies pushed it back from this week to the fall because of the fear that street niggas were actually going to buy his album instead of bootlegging it.
